Wow, I only posted as a joke, but you guys are WAY too serious...
I concede to your greater intellect...
I will continue to shred the speed limit on my (fast enough for me) silver 900, red 11, and (soon to be back on the road) black 750...
Ride on...

If NASA found that flat black was the fastest colour,why do they paint the space shuttle white?
I have a black and a blue one and the blue one is definitely faster,although I think the sidecar hanging off the side of the black one might be influencing things a little. |

Fella's;
"If NASA found that flat black was the fastest colour,why do they paint the space shuttle white?" Elementary my dear Damage. One of the reasons the black 900F's are faster is put forth by the answer to your question. Black tends to absorb solar energy whereas white tends to reflect it. In space, man capable vehicles frequently, if not always, have troube getting rid of excess heat. Which is very hard to do in a vacuum. Therefore, NASA does not want the vehicle absorbing any more energy than it has to. Conversely, the black CB's while also having to dissipate the irradiated energy, can do so by going faster. They aren't 100% dependant on internal combustion energy for a given velocity. And, the increased velocity also generates more input energy from a higher speed impact with the atmosphere, yielding yet more advantage to the dark side.

Aha! Science has provided a definitive answer it seems. Black is faster. But, science may not provide the only explanation. A prior post held that our primitive human brains assigned certain responses to certain colors. Now I submit that black is a color that provoked fear and anxiety in our primitive ancestors (the coat of a black leopard for instance). And what would have been their typical response to fear? Flight! And certainly when you're fleeing from something it is better to be fast. In fact it is better to be the fastest if you are fleeing in a group. Therefore, black has always made things go faster and always will. |

Plus when NASA painted them black they were too fast and ended up orbiting Saturn instead of Earth.

Ah, you guys will never learn.
When your blue or silver or black bikes beat 7 seconds, we'll talk.
Until then.....
Red will always be the fastest! |
Real Fast...
Throw some Black paint & Orange stripes on it and shave a 1/10 second off. |
