It was time for me to get a better charger, the one I have is a constant amperage(vs Voltage) charger with no overcharge protection. After seeing this on sale(40% at Canadian Tire) and doing some research on CTEK chargers, I decided to definitely pick one up. They got raving reviews and this Swedish company is apparently OEM supplier for Porsche, Aston Martin, BMW etc. It's a 4 step charger, it's also waterproof and shockproof. It has at least one leg up on others, it comes with a desulphation mode for restoring batteries that have been sitting forever.
Anyway, I thought I'd share as there seems to be a large number of people that have never heard of these.
Here they are rebranded...
Possibly the best thing about it has nothing to do with its technical performance. Finally, something comes with a storage bag! I hate how you can't pack stuff back into the box it came in!

Nice On the f bikes can you trickle charge with the battery connected to the bike without worrying about damaging the altenator windings? I have a trickle charger that has the taps like yours has that connects to the terminals so you can connect to the battery plug it in and forget it . But ive been scared to use it that way. |

Hey Bat:
Get an Big Crank AGM battery and your charger will rarely ever be out of it's bag, even over extended storage periods. |

The CTEK manual actually mentions that you do not have to disconnect the battery to charge it with it. And from what I gather, many people just trickle-charge their battery w/o disconnecting.

Hey. Already got it, and you're right, they don't need trickling. It's a Deka AGM(and Big Crank is a rebranded Deka) and I don't really need to trickle it. However, wife's SV has a battery that probably should(even though it starts too no problem, but better to keep it topped up), plus I wanted a proper charger. |
