I would avoid anything that puts the orifices at the bottom of the inlet throat on the suction side of the velocity stack.
Look at the stock CR velocity stacks, they keep the metering holes outside the airflow.
I have tried even the KN filters with noticeable performance issues because of this. |

I believe he thinks they work off suction? |

When you cover up the air bleeds it messes up the carb functions. You just put the orifices in the path of air flow. They should be outside of the velocity stack as designed by the stock Keihn stack do.

What issues did you have with pods on CRs? I think you're the first to mention the possibility of pods causing running issues on CRs. |

This ought to go in the technical section. I could never really get the CR's dialed in correctly with the KN's.
And it wasn't a jetting problem either, I'm very well versed in carb tuning and when I ditched the K&N's and used the velocity stacks that came with the carbs, it initially ran better. Then it was so easy to get them tuned with the stacks. When I went back to the K&N's with the same jetting etc they ran like shit. I figured it would richen up just a bit due to a tad of reduced airflow. Not the case I went down a jet size, ran like crap, tried a bigger air bleed ran like crap, top end fell of the map.
Put the Stacks back on even with the slight jetting changes and it ran leaps better. So I went back to my original final jetting with the stacks and haven't taken them off since.
I believe those orifices need to be at ambient pressure in order for the carbs to function correctly. |
