Wiring is all sorted, the left side was a breeze! Got my new rear tire/tube on the spoked rear wheel and set up the chain. Rearsets and linkage are all hooked up - GP Shift! Braided lines are on and bled, new mini gauges and headlight brackets from Dime City Cycles, grips from eBay. Fabricated a license plate mount and all I have left to do before the safety is set the signals up and mount my license plate lights.
Still waiting on my smaller battery that will fit under the tail hump but using a spare battery I got it all fired up!! Took a while to get the gas flowing and filling up the carbs and I had a gas line leak at the y connector (this new tank has 2 petcocks) but no float bowl leaks and nothing else to report so overall I am pretty pumped. Here are the latest photos.
R6 Brembo radial mount lever
New gauges and choke mount.
Mount on the frame worked out perfectly for the rear reservoir.
Rearsets with GP Shift
Headlight mounted.
The long cable still hanging down is for my rear mount battery. Once I get the battery it will be cut to size and tucked away under the tail.
Getting real close to riding this beast now. If it wasn't for waiting for parts it would be complete.... so close now

That is one sweet Cafe! Nice work.
Did you consider grinding down the handle bar clamps on the top tirple clamp, it would clean up that piece real nice?

I actually am designing a plate that will mount across the space and having a buddy cut it on his CNC machine.

I would assume that with your attention to detail that you already have a plan, but what about something kind of like the custom fuse covers that rcmoto made personalized to read the name of the bike or something.
I guess we will see what you have planned when you are done, or you could give a little hint of what you are thinking. Again, great looking bike.

I was posting my above post before you made this post. I figured you had a plan.

I keep forgetting what I ordered from various places
Got my DP sintered brake pads (front and rear) in today and installed - this thing is gonna stop on a dime! Crossing my fingers that my battery shows up tomorrow.

Great job, I cannot say that I have seen a cafe bike that I have liked more. I have been thinking about doing my bike in white and black, so the color scheme is up my alley right now. Again great job.

Tires I purchased locally as one of my clients owns a bike business. They are Bridgestone Spitfires 11F 100/90/19 and 120/90/18
Cheers

A WHITE cafe - that is inspired thinking. I was going to the all black thing on the Z440, but now I'm not.
Do you mind if I steal your idea?

Be sure to post photos of the project - would love to see what you come up with.
I have been out riding this thing around town and I have never gotten so much attention on any of the bikes I have built. Everyone's asking "what is that?" and "what year is that?" - it's awesome, everyone thinks it's a 60's bike. Too funny.
Cheers!

Nicely done and as true of a "cafe" style as you're going to get using a post 78' DOHC Honda engine. That tank/seat/tail swap really give it old school cafe cred.

This is one of the points I've been trying to address in a couple of other posts at the site concerning cafe mods, the total loss of identification as a CB-F SuperSport model.
So, is the bike currently being displayed on any "real cafe" oriented sites?

Mate, please don't take this as a criticism, but just wondered if you had any thoughts about the brake master cylinder?
I'm trying to think of an elegant way of hiding the one on the Z440 but not sure which way to go. You have way more experience than me on cafe's.
thanks,
paul
