New CB owner here

Howdy all, been lurking for a while and just signed up. Have been on "dotheton" and the "SOHC" forums and luckily found this one.

I have 2 projects on the go at the moment, both 1982 - a 750F and a 900F. The 750 will be my wifes bike and she wants it to have a retro cafe look, spoked wheels, BCR tank and tail, standard forks and rear shocks while my 900 is getting a completely different look with modern USD GSXR front end, radial calipers, F4i swingarm, R6 shock and lots of custom welding and fab work to come. Both are nothing but a huge parts pile at the moment but as things progress I will post the photos and try to write build reports for them both.

I am not a stranger to custom builds but this is the first time making "retro" (is 1982 retro now, dating myself a bit) air cooled bikes. Previously have built from wrecks 2 TL1000R's one street and one track, a 2001 RC51 which is my current driver and shouldn't be - it's really a race bike with a headlight. I am the creator and founder of svrider.com (sold the site in '09) and have built 2 SV650's - long gone now. The custom cafe thread on svrider yielded this image (below) and I went chasing a CB DOHC as a basis - who knew I would end up with 2 bikes:

Anyone know who's bike this is? Great stance!!

Origin8or.... Welcome to the F site...

This is LNewman's bike.. His project bike keeps popping up from time to time.. It will be a real cool bike, once he finishes it.. Use the "search" function & find a lot of his posts..

hey origin8or,
ive been following your cafe build pretty close. i love what you've done, very creative. im working on a cafe as well, i ordered a bcr seat that should be in next week, the long seat so i wouldnt have to weld anything Embarassed

ill learn one day. cant wait to start riding, so close, but feels so far away. i sold my last bike which was an 06 rc51, had it dialed in pretty well, yoshi carbon fiber pipes and a power commander. thing was a freaking blast. i got retarded on it quit often, here is a fine example of my stupidity. id like to think ive grown up since. maybe i havent. welcome!

Cool, I actually just sold my 2001 RC51, it's also on my blog (origin8or.com/blog) - a lot of custom work went into that one as well.. didn't think I would sell it but it's getting harder and harder for me to get out to the race track so it made sense to let it go.

That Cafe build for your lady looks awesome Brother. Nice work indeed! I bet we could stand to see a couple more shots of that bike from different perspectives..

That's a pretty bike. I like the little details (while grips and black headlight brackets with while headlight bezel).

Any idea how much weight you pared off?

Can we have a few more pics?

Watch out for the onslaught against the pods.
