We all know the day may come but most of us chose not to think of it. Two weeks ago my dad was told he has pancreatic cancer which is one of the worst. I have spent this time between reflecting, sadness, and helping my dad get into MD Anderson in Huston which is his best chance for help. I got him on a plane Monday and we should have some answers today. In light of the family needs I will be selling my beloved 1100 knowing that I will be flying back and forth and the posibility of needed funds. Anyone who followed the project knows the time and money invested. I am asking $4000 which will include all spares. If you know of anyone who might be interested please send them my way.

Joe,

I am very sorry to hear of your father's illness. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts and prayers. I would like to donate some funds directly to you to help with your travel expenses as I cannot buy your bike. Please let me know where I can send a donation to help. Maybe others are in the same situation I am in and can help in another small way even if they cannot buy your bike.

Dave

Thanks to all for the kind offers and thoughts. The good news today is it has not spread,it can be treated with rad/cemo,and should give a few decent years. The bad news is it is near the portal vein/aortic artery so removal is not an option. So no cure but held in check. Only 5% last 4-5 years after this type cancer is found but we will gladly take it. Thanks again guys.

Glad to hear you'll get a couple more years with your Dad! I lost mine almost exactly a year ago to cancer. It got him quick.

Joe,
Hang in their, Most people forget that this is difficult for the family members as well!

I have recently been diagnose with small cell lung cancer, presently going though treatment, NO SRY'S PLEASE.

My cancer is basically untreatable, you take chemo to try to get 6 months to a year out of your life.

As I was meeting with my Priest, He did remind me of how important it is for the family members to come to terms with the diagnose, not just the patient, so one of the best things you can do to help, is make sure all the family members have accepted this diagnose, remember all the good times for now there was never any bad times!

Bamaf, I am so sorry to hear of you, your family, and your father's

medical difficulties.

My ex-wife is dealing with the same thing.

God bless her, she put up with me and now she gets this!

Please get the medical people to give you the full information.

Also, for your knowledge and decision making do the research on the

web. According to her there is a lot more out there than most medical

people say.

Ted, hang in there.

Do what you gotta do.

Please keep us up to date.

Hey..prayers are sent....but make sure the Spirit is high....miracles always happen...
and the minds ability to heal is just as important as the bodies....
"Be Still-know that you are GOD"-Psalms 46:10
Peace to you and yours,
Jebby

As Jebby said (way better than I can), "Peace to you and yours" to both Joe and Ted. In my prayers...

I feel for your situation, I had a medical scare with my dad and his heart earlier this year. It was the first time he had ever been anyting but 100% healthy, and he ended up in the hospital for a spell. It's rough time for sure, but if the doc's are calling for a few more good years, make sure you make the most out of them.

I'm also bummed to see your bike for sale. Watching you bring that sad wreck back from the dead to be one of the cleanest Fs around was a real pleasure. Like others have mentioned, my bike fund is currently a little shy of the asking price, but have you thought about parting out your spares? The market for nice spare parts seems good these days, and you can probably raise some quick cash in the next week or ten days between this site and e-bay.

I know you wanted to include them with the bike, or offer them to an e-bay buyer, but let's face it the bike is cherry and the next owner isn't going to need any parts for anything. Just a thought, and here's hoping that things with your dad go better than anyone expects, and maybe there's another sad F in your future.

Thanks again for the kind thoughts and inspiration.Ted only the best wishes to you and yours. As hard as this has been for me I can not think about what has been going through my dads mind.He grew up during the 30's and WW2 which I am sure made him the person he is.One that is beloved not only by family but by most that know him. Even if my 1100 goes I am sure another will be in my future. Just remember, there is nothing in life more important than family.Spend time, hold them close, love them. You just don't know how much time you have with anyone.Don't waste it.
