Day 2 of not working. Like many things in life, its careful what you wish for.
I often wished I didn't have to work and dreamed of getting so much done on so many unfinished projects. No job, no income = projects on hold
Biggest adjustment is how out of sync with life, After working for 36 or so years, itsd a tough adjust to NOT get ready and go to work.
I got more done when I was working than now, and I have all day, every day.
Tomorrow - Unemployment office ! I see they offer FREE classes so I'll look into a few freebie classes, can't work, may as well learn something.
Even crazier - with this experience, the thought of retirement as lost its luster |

Ouch. That sucks. Is it a permanent layoff, or just temporary? Hope you find something soon, either way.

Now, if this were in the Double Yellow, that would lead to one hell of an argument. |

Boy, do I know that feeling....I empathize w/you. I've been in the workforce for 43yrs. I so identify w/working for a living - the idea of being out of work really unsettles me. I hope you're back at work soon & return to "normal" quickly.
"Free" classes are a good thing. CA. has similar program, I used it to take machinist classes when I was last unemployed. Learned a lot of useful stuff - added to my skill set.
Take care, Ed. |

Hang in there it has been almost 9 months for me. I can see how new born mothers start to lose it from lack of adult interaction. |

Answer: I think they're only interested if you're wearing over 200+ pairs of underpants. |

Larry,
I know how you feel. I thought I got a fair bit done back in the day when I worked seasonal jobs and had long unemployed spells. I got more done this winter with a new daughter, two semesters of university and some interior renovations (my first stair case from scratch). I also got my highest marks to date. Got my first high A on an English paper.
Here's to getting your job back, Grant.

Larry, that sucks. Hope it gets better. The key seems to be to stay positive and keep pushing. I have buddies who who did the bath robe thing and are still out of work. Those that kept hussling are back working. |

I received one reply from a college for an adjunct instructor - They asked for college transcripts. Sent for them and wating for them to arrive. That would be a nice cange of pace. |

Sorry about the bad luck. Hopefully it's not permanent. I've been laid off for the last two years due to the company outsourcing to China. I took the opportunity to go to college and get my degree. If you have the chance to take some classes go for it, you can never learn too much. |

I checked, some dude named Hefner holds the record.
Sorry to hear of the unexpected vacation, Larry.
I've been off since before Thanksgiving. The winter months were really rough with the nasty winter we had. Now that it has warmed up, I've been doing better mentally. Hope to be back myself within the next month.
Good luck and hang in there!! |
