When it warms up enough here, the uniform of the day will be a $600.00 helmet w/cool graphics, tank top, shorts, flops, and no gloves......usually while astride a 100+ HP sportbike. Confused

flip flops would have been the cherry on top, but they at least had close toed shoes.

Me and some friends were on our way up to the Dragon in North Carolina a few years back. We were clipping along a 2-lane road about 55-60 MPH when a guy on a Harley passes us doing at least 80. He was wearing a very small pair of cutoff jeans, and nothing else except a long scraggly beard. No shirt, no shoes, nothing. North Carolina does have a helmet law, so he was wearing one of those chrome novelty WW1 German helmets with the spike on top. In about a minute he was gone completely out of site. All I could do was shake my head.

Last year I seen a couple riding that were both wearing shorts, T shirts and bear footed on a Wing, Go figure. Rolling Eyes

I was wearing them and I was riding my wife's Suzuki. The bike will need new forks and a ton of new plastic but is fixable.

I will need some new riding gear and a supply of percs and muscle relaxers. Got a whole lot of black and blue and a bunch of pulled muscles around my ribcage. Without the helmet I would be dead or a vegitable, without the rest I would have broken knuckles, shoulder and elbow, not to mention head to toe roadrash.

Used to live next to a nurse that was on a organ harvest team. Once the weather got nice she would always get called in after bar time.

Next day she would tell me about all the nice strong and young parts they got to remove from some dumb drunk kid on a crotch rocket. She called them donorcycles.

I always got a kick out of the guys that didn't feel safe in a full coverage helmet, because they couldn't hear or see and then they would wear those dumb skull caps and ride a chopper, which is only good in a straight line and only as long as you don't go very fast. Fashion kills!

$500 for a new helmet, come on, bit of bondo, sand paper, and a can of enamel spray paint and it will be as good as new roflmao

Did you forget to mention the $2 for the Dencorub suppository for pranging the wifes bike AND claiming on her insurance (unless it was the other drivers insurance in which case you can play the injury and pain for all it's worth with your wife)? Laughing

No problems with the wife other than I was out riding on a beautiful day when she couldn't get loose from work to go with me.

The tab goes to the lady in the Nissan who was making a left with her eyes closed.

If you've hit a car and can limp/crawl away under your own steam, then you have been lucky. Once again, wearing the right gear helps.
As a suggestion, it might help if you drove on the correct side of the road, then some one pulling a left turn won't hurt you.

The bike hit the car, but I was no longer on it at the time. I went for a 30mph slide/roll passing behind the car. To much front brake and sand on the road resulted in an instantaneous low side flick to the left.

My technique sucked, but it turned out to be the best option. Distance was to short to swerve and way to short to stop even if I had ABS. A slide behind the car was much better than a broadside. Now if I had been thrown to the right instead of the left it would have really sucked.

We had an accident on 95 here the other day. 5 or 6 sportbikes cutting thru traffic at 120+. A few miles later and a cbr100RR, yellow and blue with papertags is in the road with the rider about 100 feet away. Wearing nothing but shorts and a T shirt, gloves and helmet. Covered from shoulders down in road rash. The amazing thing is that he was basically OK. What shocked me and pissed me off as well was that none of his "friends" had come back to check on him as of 15 minutes later. A rider down and they left him. Hopefully he will never ride with them again if he rides again.
