It just really shows stupidity. These will rev up that high, the problem is they make no power above about 10,000. The only way you figure this out is to accuratly shift on time. Just revving to 10,600 compared to 10,000 slows it down.

I only had a 10,000 chip for the shift light so could not try say 9600,but changing from my minimum setting of 10,600 speeded the bike up. This was not some stock engine either but had all the stuff inside, especailly hot cams, shim under buckets, etc. You can degree the cams to long lobe center that makes it rev up but it still is not as quick/fast as shifting at lower revs.

You must drive these things like a tractor. Air shifter and all just keep pushing the button and you do not wait for it to rev on up,try to get into 5th as soon as possible.

I always thought the 10k MSD limiter was fast enough because higher revs weren't pulling enough ... Shocked

If you mean me I always used the top limiter at 12,000. The launch limiter was 7600 to say 8000 depending on traction and the shift light flashed at 10,000,which has no effect on the bike. I did this so if I was fighting it for control on launch it could overev and not hit the limiter which would just kill the pass. My engines had aluminum conrods, shim under buckets, and decent springs. The valve gear could easy go 13800,it is something else that limits the power. The aluminum rods will take that rpm and not spin out the inserts.

Now on my last "crash" pass pass at Atlanta, the race ball bearing tachometer shows the tell tale at 13000. The tell tale is an arm moved by the needle and stops at the highest rpm reached. It went by the 12,000 so hard the MSD did not catch it.

Now as to the video this guy is an asshole. The stock tach on a bike cannot keep up with the engine,it is merely for amusement.
