Hello Folks,

I just signed in after many many moons. I am now getting e-mail messages saying that I have received a "private message", as I have asked my account to notify me of.

When I go them they are from a name I do not know and when I cover the name with my mouse, It will not tell me who it is. The messages seem to be from sights trying to sell something and one was in Russian I think.

Anyone get this lately or in past. Posssibly old problem that I have just been exposed to due to long gap in sign-ins???

I have been getting a lot of spam lately from the HondaCB900F website. Sounds like the same thing. Nothing here though.

Just seeing it.

Copy one of the links so we can see it. Remember just because it says it's from here it may not be. As ever if you are suspicious just delete it and move on.

Try changing you pass word on your regular e-mail site. I was getting wierd stuff being SENT and returned on a site i use. Crap like " dear friend have i got a deal for you" stopped when I change password on that site. seems as though they were tapping my sent list.

As I'm sure Glenn could tell you, it is ridiculously easy for spammers to harvest e-mail addresses from any number of sources and then to "spoof" the sender's address to be anything they want. SO making e-mail look like it's coming from CB1100F.NET is very easy to do. It's nothing CB1100F.NET has anything to do with or can do anything about. (Unless Glenn wants to give up his contacts in the mass marketing business Wink )

as always, it depends on two things, the host of the site....the HondaCB900F website has ads all over it. keeps them going, but most all ads use cookies....which trace right back to YOUR machine, and your email provider's setup. Craigslist, which i am sure we all use, is full of Phishing and "social engineering" that gathers your information, for instance. it can't hardly be helped anymore.
i get spam in my email every time i get any email...seems to be like an open door if i get a legitimate notice. thankfully, since i am careful about my wondering through the web jungle, i don't seem to get much.....or maybe they don't think i am worth it Laughing , either way, i know my GF gets TONS of email spam because she is constantly clicking on pop-ups or going to highly commercial sites that depend on ad revenue. i spend more time cleaning up her computer than i ever do on any of my machines. Rolling Eyes

can i interest you in some cheap Viagra or a way to get a "Good Job Now!!!"...just send me $9.99 plus your personal information, and i will get right on that! Wink

The 900F website is cleared of ads on a regular basis by me but I can't stop them from re-appearing as there's anywhere from 50-75 new spammer members joining daily there. As moderator I can't ban them or delete their accounts and have asked the Adam (the Admin) to do so but haven't heard anything from him in quite some time. In the meantime I continue with the neverending and tedious job of deleting every ad.
As I type this there's one on the site right now posting an ad every two minutes. What fun! Rolling Eyes
