I am at a loss on how to type this. Mark Porthouse, Spookf4e, passed away at 9:45 this morning. He was driving down the road for work last Wednesday and had severe stomach pains. He pulled over a called Onstar. They sent an ambulance and found that his colon had exploded. Diverticulitus is what he apparently had. They put him in the hospital, operated, and pumped him full of antibiotics. They then induced a medical coma to ease the pain. He responded well and everything looked great. The infections all were gone and things looked well. He apparently had a siezure while coming out of the coma and became brain dead. Quality of life is something that he always enjoyed and he did not want to live this way. May he now rest in peace and ride the roads he only dreamed of.
For the old time members of this forum you will remember him for his search for perfection with his 100% stock CB1100F in mint condition. Buying every NOS part that appeared on eBay for a couple years. For those that met him at the Honda Hoot, you will remember how pissed he was that he actually had to ride his bike in the rain and get it dirty. He bitched at me for weeks after that. I guess he thought I controlled the weather. A good friend and fellow Marine will be sadly missed. |

btw: Should we put together something to honor his memory and contributions to us?

I unfortunately never met Spook, but I knew what his screen name meant and considered him as a good friend. I am truly saddened to hear about this news. I wish the best for his family. |

That's a shame. Damn.
I bought a fairing from him when he sold everything. As Larry said, he was meticulous in his parts search. The fairing is spotless. |

Really sad news to hear of him dying and in such an unexpected way.
I once bought some NOS parts from him and he was a really nice guy. I can certainly understand about the rain business - if I got my blackbird wet and dirty with road filth, I would be really pissed off. I would probably take more than a few weeks to get over it. |

Reading some of Spooks' old posts show the passion he had for his bike, the model itself and for this website.
Goodbye, Mark. |

This place changed in a number of ways when Mark stopped posting. Talked with him several times and posted in threads with him often. Never got to meet him, but always wanted to.
My best to his family and loved ones.
Rest well Mark. |
