Hey guys,

Some good news. I defended my Ph.D. this morning and I guess it was pretty successful Very Happy
Glad to be done with that.
Big thanks to Pete (pointdiver) for coming to support me at 8am this morning. He can probably comment on how boring research can be Wink

Cheers,

Doc_Sly

Hopefully we will never need a Doctor on our NE rides but it can sure be a great back up plan!

What are your plans? Staying in Boston area, going home or something else?

Thanks guys.
I am (now) a doctor in biomedical engineering (not a medical doctor).
I specialize in engineering image-guided surgery devices using near-infrared diffuse light. It helps to image for instance, without contact to the patient, tissue oxygenation, and cancer related structures (tumors or sentinel lymph nodes).

Thanks again for the congrats!

S~

Hi guys,

thanks again for the congrats.
For what's next, I am normally going back to France where I found an academic position, starting mid-december.
I will be leaving by November 8, shipping my bike with me and all the parts I accumulated during 5 years. I will probably also put some for sale on the website.
I actually might sell a CB1000C engine in a rolling chassis. anyone interested?

Thanks,

Sylvain

Yes to the 1000c,

Too bad I am in BC and you are in the mother land of technical advancement. Good luck in France, I really cant wait to see what the future holds with people like you inventing such amazing micro-bio devices.

I don't really work on micro-bio devices, or runner accessories, but on larger devices used in cancer surgery. One of the device we built during the thesis is currently used in clinical trials for breast and lung cancer. It is rather impressive to see human being operated using a device you built.
I am hopefull and fighting so that we can bring some imporvement to the way cancer surgeries are performed today.

Thanks a lot for all the congrats guys Smile

It was great meeting and riding with you, and drinking beers. I will be back, maybe for a fall ride (if it's sunny). I will keep my DOT approved helmet (not legal in France) Wink

For the European folks, we will deifnitively meet. It would be nice to do a Euro Spring and Fall ride. I'll post something when I am settled.

Cheers,

S~

Sly, I won't pretend to understand what you do, like Pete, I was lost after "biomedical engineering"! But if you've built a machine which will help to fight Cancer, then I'm buying the beer when we finally meet!

I add my congrats to the chorus, I know that this is the culmination of many years of hard work, and you deserve all the accolades we can give you.

Hmmm, a Spring Ride in Europe... Anyone got an extra bike that needs exercise?

You guys are the best!
