So, just as I am saving again for a push on the 750 project our house smells the money and decides to cost me big time. The other night I noticed my foot got wet as I stepped on a kitchen tile. I looked down to see water oozing from around the edges of several tiles when they're stepped on. Called a contractor friend to take a look, and surprise! A pipe has been slowly leaking in the floor causing some $6K in damages. Not to be outdone however, the newer truck we have crapped its PCM. Looks like the CB long term project just turned into a very very long term project. I was very close to getting it started again too. Just got a new rotor from Tim, and was working out some RR issues when this happened. |

Sorry to hear that. That sounds like an expensive fix. I have tried for years to budget a $200 o-shit a month. The plan was to save it if nothing happened in case a bigger o-shit comes in following months. The $200 o-shit comes every month in some form or another. Fortunately, so far, nothing as big as yours, because the o-shit fund is at a zero balance. |

Sorry to hear about your floor. Know exactly what you mean. Every time I turn around something needs done on the house.
But you can always look at the bright side as they say "IT ALWAYS LOOKS THE DARKEST RIGHT BEFORE IT GOES OUT COMPLETELY"
Wait a minute - maybe that's not the bright side - well never mind

An adjuster is coming out to take a look, and I hope that they cover at least some of it. The insurance will cover it if it's a new leak, not something that has been working over a long time. |

The first house I owned had a leaking water heater. Been leaking for some time even before I bought the house (I just wanted a new water heater the plumber told me of the leak) the wood sub floor in the laundry/mud room were toast and since it floor covering was also into the kitchen it was all covered by insurance, the only thing the insurance did not cover was the water heater |

Be careful about the verbage "long time " if they say it's not covered because of "long time" ask to see what determines "long time" and where is it written. |

THAT right there is an excellent idea!
The unpredictable o-shit keeps happening, sometimes big (see OP) sometimes little smaller.
My latest o-shit came in terms of $450 ticket for not coming to full stop before making a right turn on red. Onto an empty street....
Crap keeps happening, just just how life is.
It's the times when life serves you a really big one, or a multiple smaller ones right after another, when things get little hard.
Been there.... But I still enjoy all of it.
