Who do you guys go with?

I've always purchased from Progressive, but everything equal Geico actually has better rates on my CB.
I don't insure the car with State Farm so that's not a go.

I can only offer apples to compare to oranges as I live in Canada, but I have only basic plates on the bike and liability. I figure I can fix a lot of stuff for the money I'd be paying to ICBC(BC insurance). And if it's beyond repair, I will most likely have bigger worries then the bike.
I also have Collector plates on it so I pay $120 for the year. Smile

Progressive for my Harley, rates have been so low i haven't bothered looking elsewhere, remember your credit score has a big impact on your insurance premium.

Geico here, got middle range coverage and pay $225 a year but I haven't had insurance on any vehicles for awhile, I'm sure it would've been lower if I had a primary car.

I have State Farm for house, cars and pay $140.00/year premium coverage for cb900f.

I have been using Progressive for the last 10 yrs here in GA...for both the Wing and the 750 my premium is $125/year!

Progressive here also. GEICO were jerks when I went in for a quote. Calling my agent soon about adding road service for 12 bucks a year.

I went with Progressive because they offerred an Agreed Value Rider and would also provide coverage for my ATV's. I had to send in picture of VIN and both sides of the bike. I had to get an Appraisal from a Dealer and now the bike is covered for most of the bling I added to BB.

I was interested in protecting the $$ I have put in in case of fire or theft as well as an accident. Appraisal came out at $7500 and that is the agreed value! Amazingly the dealer recognized the cost for the Pipe, Damper, Rearsets, CR-S Carbs, Paint and Wheels. The policy cost $269 per year but that also includes my ATV's as well.

Wow, I can't believe some of the rates you guys pay! Wish we had progressive here.
Last year, the first year I've had bike insurance in 22 years, I paid $775/yr for my 11F. And that was just for liability coverage.
This year, it dropped down to $610/yr. That's still pretty steep, considering the bike is parked for 4 months.
One place called Rider's Plus, a company that specializes in bike ins. wouldn't insure my bike because it is over 25 years old?? Where is the farking logic in that when I'm only getting PLPD???

I pay $165 a year for the ZRX and the 11F, but I'm old as dirt. Mad

Progressive by the way, get it online, print out your proof of insurance and ride!

Hi Chris:

Consider yourself lucky that you're not on the west coast! Fortunately, I, like Batan, have collector plates on the old 9 now so I only pay about $100 for six months, but when I didn't have that option, it was over 600 for 6 months - and that's no fire, theft, or collision. To add insult to injury, my Vulcan is $2600 per year (if I was to go through ICBC for everything - which I don't - and I also only insure it for about 4 months - not due to the cost of the insurance but due to all the god dam rain here. That's with an unblemished 36 year driving record with no accidents or tickets (well maybe a few tickets, but nothing in the last 10 year) for which I get a 40% discount (so the pre discount rate would be $4300). In BC, the base cost of motorcycle insurance is based on only one thing - the engine displacement. So some 18 year old on a 600 CC rocket that would eat my Vulcan for lunch in every way, pays about 1/3 of what I pay. That's what government run insurance does for you!

Bucko, do you get a discount on a second or third vintage bike if you are lucky enough to own them?

Wow, I truly am sorry for you guys that are paying outrageous prices. I knew since my CB was old and a lower CC it would be cheap, since I've owned everything from Kawi ZRX's, Honda Shadows, Honda CBR's, and Suzuki Bandit's.

I have a lot of respect for you guys. And nice bikes, BTW!

Nope, no discounts no matter how many bike or cars you have. The reverse is true though - you can't get collector plates unless you're insured on at least one other regular vehicle.

I really can't complain. They paid me about what I had in the Moped (admittedly, not that much), plus reimbursed me for the trashed helmet and for the Ballistic, gloves, & boots they cut off me. TB

Use state farm cause I live in my parents house (and they have state farm) so i get the discount as if i owned the cars that they do (and since im insured as a primary on one Wink

)...

so, with full coverage (100/300/100 K) liability, Medical, Comp, Collision, Unisured, Underinsured for one year is $250

Yes, that means Mommy and Daddy give me a car to drive Wow

Have been with State Farm for years, but last year I posted something similiar to this thread and Peter suggested Hagerty insurance for my older bikes, (Wing is still with State Farm).

Hagerty is one of the only insurance companies that would insure a modified cycle on a "stated value" policy. I have my 'Ceptor, my blue 1100F and the OMT bike all insured for full coverage and I pay less than $425/year for all three. And I have the stated values set high for the F's.

I have 3 bikes insured through Farmers here in Texas. A 77XS750(full coverage), an XJ550(liability) and the CB900F(liability) for $295/year.

In Aussie land I use a specialist insurer for my old bikes - Shannons. They will only insure you if you are an "enthusiast". I had to mention I had rebuilt my 750 (20+ years ago) and was rebuilding my 1100 before they would quote. Both bikes cost about $320AUD ($230USD) for comprehensive insurance. I think the 1100 is $180 and the 750 $140 a year.

I was in the same boat Chris. It was $1000 for the first year and then after taking the safety course it dropped to $565 after a year of riding under JEVCO. The mother F'n insurance companies in Ontario don't care if you own 1 or 5 bikes, they will treat each bike as your primary one for transportation and charge full amount for EACH. Some other provinces will charge full for the first bike, and then a significantly lesser amount for each additional bike (like $50 each)

I took the insurance off the 1100F and put it on my 1985 VF1000R for this year - the VF was the same price so it was a direct transfer.
