They're effective against constant radar (cop cruising down the road), but they are ineffective against instant-on radar from the hand held units, which is 90% of what's used.
The cop waits until he has his target in sight, and bam... your detector goes off, and he already has a reading.

They work if the cop is targeting the vehicle ahead of you, but if he sees a bike coming up on that vehicle, he's going to wait and nail you.

instant ons are a fact, but a good detector lets you know there's radar in the area, then it's up to the rider to mellow until past and out of range, of course if you are the only one on the road.............

i have shopped at radar busters, quick shipped, still get daily emails for christmas time deals

i bought an X50-Blue a couple yrs ago and the thing is awesome

Radar detectors are pretty much redundant in PA as more and more police here are adopting ENRADD. PA only allows State Troopers to use radar, so backroads and small municipalities used to be 'speed trap' free. Not any more - my last speeding ticket was via ENRADD and my detector didn't even blink. ENRADD is not radar based, so anyone can use it, even local police. I don't even switch my detector on anymore and I'll probably remove and bin in it one of these days soon.

Don't need a radar detector, but would like someone to design a cop car detector, I think that would solve the problem. Cool

Thats wouldn't be too tough, just find out what frequency they use in their 2 way radio system and what type of radio.
Then you could calculate the intermittent frequency used in the radio and detect that.
Of course riding around with a large tuned array on your helmet could cause other problems Laughing

Thats what the radio stations do to get listening stats, they detect the I.F. of your FM radio...but they use a loop inbeded into the road...sneaky eh..Very Happy
