Colin, welcome to the F-site! There is tons and tons of informative posts in the archives, so give them a good look, a tip: use AND between the search words.

Let's see some pics!

Very Happy

Welcome Colin, to this great site for all things "F".
Plenty fast for a first bike. Ride safe.

Welcome to F'eaven Colin,

Looks like you have a great bike to work with there. Read up on the things to take care of for maintenance in the Service Manual which you can download from the Technical Documents section.

Good luck and keep us posted as you get acquainted with your "new to you" bike.

Dave

There are a couple guys kind of "in your neighborhood" on this site.

That's a lot of bike for a beginning rider. You might consider a riders safety course.

Good riding.

Hello Mate,

That's a hell of a first bike! Mine was a Suzuki ZR50. Looks like you'll be having a lot more fun than I did, then.

Welcome,
Dave

Welcome. Nice bike. Go easy and ride safe. If you are new, as said before, check out the beginner riders course. I had been riding for 6 years and I still learned a ton. Probably kept me alive.

Hey Wonk, Congrats on the new ride, I'm just a little south of you, in Rio Rancho. Looks like your bike and mine could be twins! Definite endorsement of the MSF Course, especially if you're new to riding, it'll be worth every penny. Let's get together for a ride, sometime!

As somebody said earlier, welcome to the site with the best group of folks on the web!

thanks for the warm welcome!

So here's a technical question. my throttle is kind of sticky, it will stay open instead of springing back. i'm used to it by now but i was wondering if i need to replace some sort of throttle return spring or something. i have been looking at schematics but have not found anything. suggestions??

That's a perfect 1st bike. Mine was a '73 Kawasaki H2 in '74. I'd ridden quite a bit by then, but that was my 1st bike. Just don't sleep at the handlebars, and don't overreach your skills. A MSF course is always a good idea too.

Hey Wonk, you must be at NM Tech, then, eh? Weekends are good for me too, my wife is usually working on the weekends (SWA Flight Attendant). I need to work out an issue before I'm gonna be ready to take the 900 out for a ride, though, need to figure out why it sometimes doesn't want to run. I've narrowed it down to a possible wiring problem around the main fuse under the left Side Cover, need to break into the wiring bundle and check for problems. Keep me posted on your availability, maybe we can get together on your way through when you're going up to LA.
