How sweet mt CB1123 is. I have not ridden it since last October. I have 3 others to play with and it needed a new battery so I just parked it for a couple weeks...months....way to long. I finally fired it up today. I had totally forgotten how nice it is. I have been riding an 08 CBR1000RR and my 06 FJR1300 a lot lately plus a recently acquired stock CB1100F, so it has been hiding in the back of the garage for a while. I went for a brief ride just to see if everything still worked. I was gone for 1 1/2 hours. It does not have near as much power as the CBR or the handling but it is raw power and a truly fun ride. I realized once again why I still love these bikes. They challenge your riding skills when you ride them as opposed to the bike being so refined and doing everything fro you. I think my company truck will stay home tomorrow. I need to take my CB1123 to work with me. I know I will have a ball on 95 and the Florida Turnpike at 6 am before traffic gets heavy. |

Did the same, as you know Larry I got a new ST 1300 and being the 1100F needs some work I have been neglecting it, but I hope as soon as this hot weather breaks I can get out on it. |

It's been raining here in Alaska the whole summer almost.
I haven't ridden in 2 weeks and today with the sun out (finally) I got to ride again. Neddless to say it reminded my why I love this bike and my smile is mile wide right now.

A guy that used to hang his hat here is really all about his XX nowadays. It fits him. He sat down on the bike and I yelled, "Shit, that bike is a perfect fit for you!"
He is still rebuilding heads for old DOHC guys and doing quite well.
I won't get to Miami this year Larry, but maybe next year. I have my gig down to a fine science now, and can get away to see friends better. That first year was an accident waiting to happen, then my mom died and my personal life went out the window. But I have a firm upper hand on the job now, and I get to set my own hours now within reason as long as the job gets done.
I have been eyeballing that Maxi-X pipe I bought from you. I'm gonna use it. I bought a pair of new titanium Jardine cans off ebay for $350(!) that fit a 919. They will be adapted to that Campbell X-pipe and xhould sound sweet and perform OK too on my 1123C.
My head is ready to do final assembly. I still need to get the tits cut down under the buckets. I'll trim 2 of them .025", 2 of them .020", and the rest .015". I'll be back to the center of the shim range where I have dozens of each size and half sizes too. I've been collecting shims for over 20 years.
Hope to see you next year Larry. |

Martin, The CBR is all I could ever hope for and more. I bought it when it first came out because the wife liked it and as you well know, that is most of the battle in gaining multiple bikes. Shortly thereafter all the magazines came out with reviews of the new liter bikes. The Honda has been consistantly number 1. They have stepped up after being beaten by Suzuki for several years and set a complete new standard. Road Racer simply stated it was "The best Liter bike EVER built !!" They even tested it against the Ducati 1098. It does everything I could ever want out of any bike. The only problem is that it is so smooth and handles so well that it will probably lead many squids to their death. I tell people my riding skills are in High School whereas this bike is working on a PHD in Nuclear Physics from MIT or some other high end school. I am certain you understand the analogy. I have never ridden anything I can compare it to. The dealership that sponsors my club carries Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki, and Kawasaki. I have ridden every new bike that has come out for the past 4 years or so. I have club members who own Ducs, MV Agusta, Triumph, and others. I have just not found anything I rode that was as easy and responsive to ride. Power is everywhere. Whether you are doing 70 in 6th gear or 90 in 3rd. You twist the throttle and away you go. I was up in the mountains in June for the Honda Hoot and pulled out to pass a couple Harleys on a short straight. I was in 4th doing about 35mph. I gave it full throttle and the front end lifted up, I do not know who was more surprised, myself or the passenger on the Harley I passed on one wheel. Thank god I had a dark shield, I am certain my eyes were very wide. I did not expect that to happen at all. All I can say is, new chassis, new motor, 153 RWHP and 435 LBS. You do the math. If you ride one, you will be running from the tax man again next March. |

Larry,
Yes Honda pulled out all the stops on that bike. I like the previous RR a lot and its a good all around street sport bike. The new one is a little more focused but a class act by honda. |

Gene, Why would you be coming to Miami? I thought you were employed by the NFL. We obviously have no team from the NFL down here. |

LOL Larry, that may be, but I get paid by a sub-contractor under consignment to ESPN. We know how to waste advertizing beer money from a country full of football fans!
Really though, this is the best job I ever had
Yeah right.
I used to get a lot more pussy when I did R'n'R, but I make a little more money now. |

Trust me, my wife will keep us all honest. You can also bring down Mrs.Chop but after she talks with my wife you may have to get another bike together in short order. |
