Couple decal questions
What decals are on top of the tank of an 1100F or 900F?
Where is does the fork air pressure decal go? |

I think the safety decals were put on as part of the dealership assembly process - I've yet to see a NOS tank with the decals on it. This means there was probably some variation of placement on the original decals.
The way they were supposed to go was the 'Preserve Nature' decal at the bottom, with the fork air pressure decal immediately above it. Black decals on light colored tanks and white decals on dark tanks. I have also seen the fork air pressure decal on the back of some used sidecovers I've purchased. The Honda fiche shows the individual decals and might be a good reference.
White 'Preserve Nature' decal here without a fork air pressure decal;

It shows the air suspension decal in front of the preserve nature decal, but I didn't leave enough room for it so I just put it underneath. Its getting a black 900 paint job anyway so its not like its concours.
I really like the black "CB1100" and the red "F" on the black panel. |

That frickin' "preserve nature" sticker is the cause of the only rust spot on my tank. Grrr. |

Dennis, did AFE do the graphics? What does your tank look like? |

Ohhh boy, I LOVE those side covers - that is my dream capacity/stock colour scheme combination!
I can concur that NOS tanks don't come with warning stickers - Perhaps the dealer assembly instructions will show "normal" placement ? The NOS side covers don't come with the helmet lock sticker either.
Just one observation on the tail piece [if decal placement is important to you] the "dayglo orange" Honda Sticker a) shouldn't be on top of the tail, but on the rear facing 'plinth' above the tail light and b) is an anachronism in that when the decal/colour scheme was current the Honda was in white, the orange wasn't introduced until later [but then neither was the 1100 engine so I guess this is a moot point!]
Are those AFE graphic's for the 'hockey sticks'? If so that's the best repro decals I've seen and would love to see the tank as well! |

Here's a pic, I haven't shot the clear yet and I got them from CBdecals. When I went out and looked at it I realized I spent a lot of time getting the front of the decal even on both side, but the back is lower on one side. crap....

Now I see that they are the same thing. First rate service and good produces. |

Well, after looking at the uneven stripes for a few days I yanked off the left one and ordered another. They were just too crooked for me to put up with. Lesson learned when putting them on a one color tank you have to pay attention to alignment a lot more than you do with a two-tone like the 1100. Hopefully I'll have it in a few days and will be able to show you a picture of the completed bike. |

That tank decal is the best replica I've seen for getting the silver to black fade right - certainly better than anything I've seen offered this side of the Atlantic! Difficult to tell off the bike but that RHS looks pretty well positioned. Looking forward to seeing the finished article! |

AFE does custom work too, even within the confines of a stock decal....
See what they did here for Papa? Tuned out really sweet..

Dennis, I found this picture last year and had been lusting after it as a bigger brother for mine :
What are you doing about the fairing? |

I like that bike in the picture. I'm not using the fairing; I'm going to use the instruments off a 900C (chrome backside) and a headlight bucket from a 750F. I cut the 750 bracket in half and am going to add an extension so I can use it on the 1100. I may have a matching decal made for the fairing later so I can use it with or without.
All I need to do after I receive the decal is apply it and shoot the clear over and I'm about done with the bike. |
