So I was rummaging through some photos from my trip to Greece last summer and came across these and thought I'd share them with you.
One afternoon my brother and I are heading home along the highway when I spot and F parked in a small rest area on the other side of the road. As we fly past it I say to him, "That was an F! Turn around and go back" I figured it was someone just pulled over and wanted to meet him. My brother reluctantly turned the car around and went back to the spot. (he did most of the driving there as it's a little nuts on the road but that's another story)
When we pulled in, I looked around for the owner but noone was there. We stopped ahead of the bike and got out and walked back to see it. Right away I notice the puddle of oil under the bike and look down to see where it was coming from when I see the giant hole through the engine. OUCH!! Now I know why it was left here. I point it out to my brother and say, "dontcha just HATE it when that happens?" So we take a few pics and I left him a note on the seat with my phone number in case he wanted to sell it as is. Never heard from him though. Too bad, as it would've been a fun project for me on my next trip and fun to ride while I was there.

Cool wheel swap on that bike! 16" front wheel?
And yes, Wow, that rod came out the front, the back, and through the starter!! I wonder what happened to the starter gear?? |

That pods statement is starting to erk me.
Those aren't stock CV's for this bike, I think they are off a suzuki. Also many people ride with pods on CV's, and they have had good results. Have you had any experience with PODS on CV's?
Nice GS swingarm also, and koni shocks!! |

Actually it was a question not a statement, I recognized the fact they were not stock Honda CV's from the top but the bottoms (bowls) appear to match our stock carbs.
BTW, That was a cool find and a great story & Pics. Thanks for posting them John!
I actuallly own a 750F w/ an 823 kit w/ a set of Pods on the stock CV's. I don't like the whole bike but the carbs are not a problem.

A bit of JB weld or dev con and some elbow grease and it would be as good as new.
I was once offered a set of cases (but No. 3 rod) like this by a tosser who tried to suggest that the cases were ok and could easily be fixed. I had a good laugh at that one. |

Wow, John, what you found there is typical mix n match F. There's lots of those in Greece, a lot of these bikes have tons of parts from stolen bikes, guys that ride them are of questionable moral character. The stolen bike market is alive n well throughout Europe and especially in the Southern parts.
I say this and it saddens me, cause after all Greece is my old country but when bikers come for vacation from Germany or other places, sometimes they leave without their bikes.
The guy was not going to go back for that bike, cause he rode it to death and he's not interested in fixing it and more than like it, doesn't have the money either. Now mind you that I'm speculating here, but growing up there I've seen this time and again and the fact that it has all these different parts on it, from so many different types of bikes, proves the point I'm trying to make. |

Now there's a blast from the past!
Yes it was quite the smorgasbord of parts on that bike.
Still sad to see it die that way.
And no, no blood to be seen anywhere. I bet there was a WHOLE lotta swearing going on when that happened though. |
