Honda Retro CB1100F Set for Production in 2009?
By Dirck Edge
When it hit the floor at the Tokyo Motor Show last year, the Honda CB1100F looked like much more than a concept. With its engine acting as a stressed member of the chassis, and its engine an all-new air-cooled design (that allows air between the two middle cylinders of the inline four), this looked a lot like a future production model.
MCN in England is reporting that the bike will go into production in 2009, and will immediately be available in the U.S. market that year. I can hear our baby-boomer readers rejoicing right now! |

By '09 my house and credit will be in order, in order to order, or by order to purchase through placing the order for the new order to arrive and for the dealer to deliver, by me taking delivery of my order in order to get to work; that is, to be delivered by said bike which I will have ordered or had delivered to deliver me after delivering my order to the dealer who will have had an ordeal in order to deal the deliverable model that I will have ordered according to my plan of taking delivery in order that the bike, after being purchased from the dealer and my taking delivery shall deliver me to the job which made it possible to get my house in order in order to order the bike. |

This has me encouraged.
But the pessimistic side of me says I'll believe it when I see it.
The other side of this is pricing - the dollar is really weak now, it may be priced out of the market. Or at least my market.
I hope they don't make the mistake they made with standards in the past by detuning the engine (like the CB1000 for instance).
Regarding the CB1100F, I don't see that one making it to market. It's basically a sport bike, and the whole idea of a sport bike is power and speed. There's no way they can make the air cooled lump produce the power of any current 1000cc+ water cooled engine. IMHO of course. I hope to be be pleasantly surprised, it is a great looking bike. |

If the 1100R makes production, they've sold one already! |

Here's an idea that most here would probably agree with. Why not allow the fans to decide what the new 1100F and 1100R should look like (IF they go to production), cause isn't it "us" that will be buying them?? GM did it back in 97 when the Corvette was restyled, and I believe Ford did it too with the newest generation Mustang. Both Ford and GM went to their largest owners groups and asked their opinions on what each should look like and what type of retro aspects of design should be considered. Low and behold they are the longest running production cars in history. Why can't Honda do the same for us?!?!
IMHO the R is really really really close.......but I dont think that F captures the "true spirit" of our bikes. |

I believe if the the CB1100F is comming, that means the 1100R will follow.
The 1100R has alot of pieces from the F if you capmare it side by side.
Let's hope so! |

My .00015 Euros....I think that equals 2 cents...lol
I don't know about that....Suzuki's GSXR 1100 was an "AIR COOLED" bad ass in the early 90's and they are still putting up good E.T. on Drag Strips and bike nights all over.
As for an 1100F come back... I think there is a good market potential. It just has to be all of what Honda's are know for....Smooth, Refined and Reliable. When you look at the standards on the market Ducati Monster, Triumph Speed Triple, etc if the price and styling are right they will sell.

Rear foot pegs are in the correct spot to give a pillon a decent ride. Rear seat could use help.
If they do not detune it to "dog" status it will sell. |

I think the rear end is trying to be more evocative of the earlier bikes...remember that there is a big 750 SOHC following too! |
