I was waiting to see one of those shorty cans on that pipe. Vipex shocks too. Wink

jkotsi, your bike looks GREAT.
Obviously this is before the Mosport dirt track adventure.
It looks fast just sitting there.

At 5'-3" it's hard to look big on any bike over 80 cc's.

I pretty sure these pics were taken in St Croix in Quebec, July 1st weekend. The missing clutch adjustment cover is why the bike looks so clean. I lost the cover on the 1st practice session and never made it to the race Saturday, there seems to be some rule about leaking oil on the track. A spectator rode in on a 1980 CB750F Sunday and let me borrow his for the race and that's when the Dyna 2000 went south. It became a ten hour drive for poutine.

The short can makes a great sound with that pipe, I could live with it on the street. As a track pipe there isn't enough clearance on right handers, 17" rims and GL forks don't help. I have a 4-2-1 that comes out flat across the oil pan, I'll be trying that next year.

The stand was from Canadian Tire, $69 on sale for a front and back stand including an assortment of bobins, a better bobbin location is the hole behind the Metmachex sticker. That was changed later.

The Vipex were way too heavy, they made that short track bone jarring.

"bbrant" lent me a set of Fox shocks but they are still stiff, but they were used at another short rough track, North Bay Airport. With this set-up I would catch air on the short straight. I will be talking with Works later this winter. The brakes were fine as long as you didn't need them. This track also has a hair pin at the end of the long straight, 9500 rpm in 5th with a 16/42, then grab as much brake as possible. It turned these rotors a nice shade of dark blue in one race.

The EBC Pro Lites also for next year.

The suspension wasn't set properly, I couldn't get it to run in a straight line once I was over 90mph, until I blew the seals in the forks (off roading), seemed to settle down after that but the Vipex ween't any softer. Folding foot pegs and frame sliders for next year.

The bike is quick, the rev limit is set at 9500, with an 18/42 sprocket you are bouncing off the limit in 5th on the back straight at Mosport. I will be trying a 41t next summer. No idea how fast I am going but no one was passing me.

Fast will be next year when I have the 1100 ready. If I can swing it there will be a new fairing and tail from Meed for next Aug. I really like the red/white/blue colour scheme, but lately I have been seeing this black "R" and I like it!

This is most definitive, as far as I can tell you are the first person to test Vipex shocks on the track and the fact that they are still to stiff speaks volumes. Are you going to put up with the Vipex or change to something else?

This is the season end look. I forced a pass on the short straight then braked hard over an oil leak clean up, lead to a tank slapper and a back flip onto the track.

I must of hit my head because I can't wait for next season.

The Vipex are on a shelf. If Grump can sort out a spring I may end up with them on a CBX. I will be buying Works Shocks for the next track season.

I bought the Vipex off Brian face to face and he assured me that the lighter springs would be ready by the end of the week. He didn't say which week. I put off rebuilding a set of Marzocchi waiting for the seconding coming. Live and learn!

At least you didn't mess up that pipe that took us so much time to get for you. Good luck next season!!

That's right, two sets down, one right and one left plate. I have a folding set from something current on a new frame that will be used next year.

The last set of Raask I have will be cleaned up and mounted on a street bike.

Sweet R!

Can we get Jim and Dennis together at a track somewhere?
About a foot difference or so? That would be an interesting comparison!
