I don't know why, but lately I seem to come across more Superbike pictures than ever. Mostly stuff that have not been here before. I'll just start tossing them here. Maybe you got some stuff that have not been posted here either. Lets toss it all in one place.

This guy {I forget his name} lives here in the Valley and has been to the shop. I saw some really cool unobtanum parts and he said he was offered a little less than he was willing to sell for by the Japanese Honda museum for that bike.

I beleive that gentleman is Ray Plumb, one of the American Honda Road Race team managers. Really nice guy and soft spoken. If I'm not mistaken, that bike is privately owned, but AH borrows it for various functions (dealer convention, press launches, etc.). If it ever goes to the Honda Collection Hall, we Americans will rarely ever see a great bit of American Supebike history... unless you fly to Japan and visit Motegi Twinring, that is.

This bike is inspiration for all of us. Who wouldn't give a pretty penny for a few laps at Laguna on that thing, huh?

Speaking of pennies... that's my .02!

Is it me or are the rear shock mounts moved forward onto the subframe?

Take a good look...what do you think.

Something is going on with Motorworld.com. I'm getting "Not authorized to view this page" message even on their home page. The pictures were of a new roadtest an comparo of RC51 and Mike Baldwin's Superbike ridden by Freddie himself in present day. I took extra care not to post dead links, but these things come and go. More reason to save everything you see on the hardrive.

From what I understand- pretty much all the factory teams were cheating hard core- that was from Fast Freddie AND Eddie Lawson's own mouth- and apparently- the Kawi had some serious fuel hidden on board- that is why he skipped the fuel stop that put him out front- and apparently- his fuel delivery system for that hidden fuel malfunctioned, causing him to sputter across the line- giving fast Freddie the win.

Could be BS though Very Happy

I am always most interested in the parts that externally drive the spark or charging systems- I am trying to set up an external alternator on a couple different old bikes. Perhaps even a magneto LOL

I have been doing some mill work, popping out some small stuff- but my goal is the external charging system, as opposed to the old stator.

I find the following picture to be most interesting along with this other one from a post above. Why so interesting? Well, back in the day when I was spending way to much money on bike parts (seems nothings changed in that respect even to this day Shocked ) I was dealing with an outfit in Ridgetown, Ontario, Canada called Phoenix Racing. In 1984 Phoenix had scored a bunch(?) some HRC parts reputed to have been from the Spencer race camp. Part of the stash was a 18" Dymag magnesium wheel complete with 310mm full floater brake disc's (Kosman disc's) on magnesium carriers. This wheel was off of one of the Team Honda race bikes, so Keven Elliot at Phoenix Racing said. Did not matter to me really although it has been a rather interesting bit of trivia to carry around for 25 years. Other then the complete bike that Phoenix had which carried the same brake rotor set up on a 16" Dymag wheel, I have never seen a picture of these rotor/carriers used on any of the Honda bikes pictured,..until now! So maybe they were telling the truth?

Image

In the following photo notice that Steve Wise (at least I think that's his #38 ) is sporting the taller 18" wheel as compared to the rest of the AHM team bikes 16" Dymags.

Image

For comparison a couple dated shots of my front rotors.
