Just bought a very nice 1984 VF750F Interceptor.
Period F1 slip ons the rest very stock. Anyone have any ideas on finding a louder aftermarket exhaust? I found a place that makes repro stock mufflers, but I want something louder than the F1's.

Hiya Al! I've got a couple of VF-750Fs also and have been keeping an eye out. I haven't seen much at all other than clapped out & ugly e-bay systems. I've seen the F1 slip-ons and that's about it. The early models have a real flat sound with louder pipes, I think because of the firing order. Where'd you find the stock looking mufflers?

Here's a link I've been to a couple times that may or may not have more information: Steve's VF Pages

Good luck with that. My V45 Interceptor came with a Kerker full system, yes it`s louder than Cobra F1`s, but they are very rare. I have heard Laser in the UK(?) makes a system for them but am not sure of the quality. Holeshot/Hindle used to make them for the VF1000`s and I`ve got a Holeshot 4-1 on the 1986 VF1000R I just got, but they are very rare also. How about adapting a current set of mufflers to the Cobra slip-ons?

Leo Vince makes a full line of stock replica muffers for many bikes, japanese and europeon. They are very high quality. For some bikes, they even make headpipes. The line of older bike exhaust is called Sito.
For the VF750, they offer black chrome replicas for about 300 a pair. It takes several weeks and thats plus shipping from Italy.

Laser has thier own brand of replica exhausts. Its sold under another name as well. Also made in Italy.

I found a crappy set of F1's on e-bay like Dennis mentioned. If I get them cheap enough, I can fill the dents with JB Weld, dress them and have a buddy mine powdercoat the cans alu silver and the pipes black. This is AFTER I figure out how to make them LOUDER!
This bike is way cool and a real surprise to ride.

D and D made a rudely loud system for these bikes back in the day. It will wake the dead if you can find a set. I have a low mileage set but am not interested in selling them. They were popular during the summer of 83 and there must be quite a few sets out there somewhere. They make big topend power but are horrible in the midrange and are difficult to jet properly. Basicly they suck. Supertrap made a system and the noise is tunable but never as quiet as stock or as loud as D and D. Kerker made something but don't believe they are still available. Bassani made a neat collector, nla. Mike Velasco made the best systems for these things. The stock system is the best all around system for these bikes. These bikes don't respond well to the run of the mill "imrovements" . The F series bikes give up power freely compared to these things and to those with experience pulling power from the F's that will tell you something. The F1 slipons are louder than stock and perform worse, they are lighter though.

A somewhat related link and some dated sales info follows, Circa mid 1980's Canada.

Tri750, My experience with the 83'-84' Interceptor models is that you're not going to get a real "throaty" sound from the V4's without ditching the stock exhaust collector. My last 84' VF750F had a really unique combination of exhaust parts I had gathered consisting of a very rare HPC coated Bassani 4into1 "bundle of snakes" pipe that I mated with a Muzzy GSXR stainless mid-pipe and aluminum "race use only" baffle can. That bike really put out a nice loud brrraaap!

I picked up a set of Yosh slip-ons a while back for my 750 'Ceptor.

I made a new baffles to to let mine be heard a bit better, went from 1.5" to 2" outlets.

OMT made cans for these bikes as well as Kerker & Yosh. Had a couple of riding buddies that had the OMT and Kerker slip-ons VF1000 Interceptors, both sounded pretty good. I think one of them still has the OMT cans, he removed them before selling the bike. Just saw a full Yosh system on Ebay for a VF1000.
Ebay Auction

I tend to agree however, that this discussion belongs in the "Great Beyond" section.

Thx all for the tips and info.
I like the kind of droany sound it makes with the F1's. If I can find a bit louder system, great Ill try it. But if I end up staying with the F1's, Ill be ok.
