.....it is a protracted thread....I was getting dizzy trying to find out what tail light are you getting. I can see from the shape of your tail that it is a dual round set up ( my favorite ).
What kind of tail light is that? I mean, from what bike is it coming from???

Looks good Andy, its the opposite way in which they painted mine, the white was painted first and then the red overlay. Keep us updated, we need pic's lots of pic's Razz

The Tail lights are two (obviously) round LED lights that are about 50mm across and about 10mm deep, I think they look cool once in there.
As for the CB1123, it has the same thing written over the top of it in a more â€˜scriptâ€™ style of writing â€¦ I did the same thing with the Honda ones on the tank tooâ€¦

Cool, for sure those lights will look good. Are those simply aftermarket lamps??? or are those production tail lights ???

The tail lights are some aftermarket ones I happened to stumble across in an m/c store in Sydney, couldnâ€™t even tell you which one now â€¦.

The difference in the sprockets from a CBX to a CBF arenâ€™t so obvious from the outside view, but the offset is bigger on the â€˜innerâ€™ side of the sprocket â€“ as can be seen here

It seems this has given me just enough clearance to have the chain lined up and running true (I also turned the sprocket on the rim around and have it facing inwards as it also had an offset, but now itâ€™s offset inwards, rather than outwards.

I got the bodywork back today. Itâ€™s been machine buffed but apparently still needs to be done by hand as well â€“ I dunno, it looks good to me!
For now itâ€™s just sitting on the bike for a couple of days for me to admire, then itâ€™s off to the upholsterer to have the seat made â€¦

Thanks for the kind words guys, itâ€™s starting to get there now â€¦ the colour just doesnâ€™t come up well in these photos. They were taken with my phone as my digital camera pooed itself. I have a new 7mega pixel jobbie coming so will take some better shots then, but for now, these will have to do

The red is very metallic in real life and the white is a pearl colour â€“ the whole lot has 14 layers of clear over the top!

The red should look somewhat familiar to Ponti in particular, as itâ€™s a match for the original colour on his bike!

For the record â€“ this CBX1000(Prolink model) sprocket DOES give me the clearance I need to run a 5.5â€ rear rim thatâ€™s wearing a 180/55 tyre.
Itâ€™s nice to find an â€˜off the shelfâ€™ item to use for this so it can be easily replaced in the future

Andy you have created a masterpiece mate, your attention to detail and obvious ability to plan the bike you wanted to create is a credit to you. I have taken great interest in this project from the first time I saw it when I joined the forum, and it seemed you knew exactly what you wanted to do, right down to the detailed Photoshop drawings that you created in the beginning. I hope I get to see the finished product in person, and if you manage to organise an "f"ing Oz get together, I will do my best to be there!

Well itâ€™s finally done â€“ what a journey itâ€™s been but it has been worth it â€“ the final result is more than I expected.
Itâ€™s still early days yet, but so far thereâ€™s more than enough power to ensure the front tires will last along time ïŠ and the handling is definitely up to the task â€¦ ..

This thread is the reason I am building my own "Better BolD'or"
You Andy are the one that inspired me to start on my own CB1100R replica and she is coming along nicely. She is not going to take me 3 years to build though because I have more time on my hands than you did.
You have had to do a lot of things along the way of your build, I am not hindered like that.
Thanks Andy, your bike has been my biggest inspiration and made me start this.

I saw Andy's CB1123F in the "flesh" yesterday at the Adelaide annual Toy Run.
It makes my recently rebuilt 750F look like a barn find in comparison. The extraordinary dedication and attention to detail can never be appreciated in pictures alone.
Needless to say, the CB1123F attracted a lot of attention from amongst the 20,000 riders who took part in the run.
Unfortunately I didn't have a camera with me, but I should be receiving pictures from riders who did, which I will post later.
Andy has set a high benchmark with his project. Anyone who takes on a job like this will need plenty of time, determination and ingenuity, not to mention a few bucks.

Thanks for the kind words here guys - I must say I'm very pleased with the results, and to anyone who's thinking of jumping in the deep end and contemplating a build - do it Laughing

it will freak you out at about 1/3 distance in, but boy oh boy is it worth it in the end ...

Andy, I am in the middle of making some braces for my frame. I noticed that your lower braces in the "triangle" seem to be at different heights. Why is that?

Also, I see in the first round of mocking up the braces with tape that you had the steering stem braces in a different place than the finished welded up job.
I am thinking of doing something simular to what you had mocked up. I am curious why you went the other route?

I only just noticed these questions … bad on my part! The lower braces on each side of the triangle are different only because I wanted to retain the 1100’s tool bag tray on the right hand side of the bike. I was aiming to have all of the bracing hidden so as to give more of a ‘factory’ look to the whole shebang but in order to keep that tool bag tray the brace on the right side had to be lower.

As to the brace on the head stem, it ended up in a different position (and made from thicker tubing) as where I had originally put the brace didn’t seem to give the maximum ‘bracing effect’ … if that make sense?

what exactlys the point of modafying your honda that much you not got a honda no more it would of been cheeper for you to go and by a diffrent bike like the one you got all the parts from in the first place lol so funny its like guys with holdens they spend heeps putting a chev motor in it and a ford diff and then say look at my holden isent it grait when the only thing holden on its the body ilmao
