Did anyone read my 'How to Buy from Japan' post?
Rinkya will buy on your behalf; any quantity, from any Japanese website, not just Yahoo Auctions . |

My $.02 is hardly worth the stock they punch it out of, but I think the position of the cooler throws off the look of the bike. |

My bad! I must have missed that part of your post, I've followed that thread but I didn't realize it was for any web store, I was thinking it was just the auctions.
Darn it, now there's more money I've got to save up so I can spend it on this bike. |

I'd be interested in a couple of sets of the AN- adaptor fittings. |

Ok, what's the deal with these AN adapters that everyone loves them so much? And what am I missing about the second oil cooler set here that costs more? Looks like it doesn't have a mount, does it mount where the stock cooler does? |

AN adaptors allow you to fit AN fittings and hose to the inlet and outlet on the pan. From there you have a much better choice in terms of oil coolers and a much more secure way of fitting everything up compared to reglular braided line and clamps.
The second two coolers I listed are a prime example. They both fit in the stock oil cooler location i.e. they're a direct bolt on. The MGW cooler is mega expensive but the cooler is obviously in the ultimate position to get cool air without any heat soak from the engine. It's also meant to somewhat replicate what Honda did with their race bikes e.g.

I'm currently running AN-8 sized fittings on my 750/836 bike. The adapters appear to be smaller then AN-8. Dash 8 fits 1/2 hose. I'd guess that the pictured fittings take AN-6 fittings and 3/8" hose. Can anyone confirm the size? I did not see anything related to the size on the Japanese site,..but I did not run any translation software either. There are expander and reducer fittings available if one would like to change the hose size up/down,..but the point may be moot if your still pushing oil through a reduced orifice at the adapter. That said, 3/8's hose will be somewhat easier to snake around the chassis. I just had hoped to use some of my existing hose pieces on a new cleaner install.

So are we talking about fittings, lines, AND cooler as a complete package purchase here, or just the fittings to be able to run any other aftermarker cooler??
If its the complete package count me in too! |

My idea was to just purchase the adapters required to connect non-factory oil coolers and aircraft braided hose sets to the factory oil pan as came stock on the CB-900, 1000, 1100 engines. There are any number of local/mail order vendors that can supply the coolers and hose stock and related fittings to enable a bike crafter to assemble a extremely nice oil cooler set up. I'll say this (having been down this road before) regardless of how or where you source parts from, the entry fee into braided hose systems can be costly (depending on vendor pricing). Having the adapter available simplifies the install to a very large extent. With local vendors supplying all other related bits (hose, fittings, etc) you can custom tailor the install to fit both your bike and your pocket book.
For those wishing to do the factory install to a 750 based motor, which did not come with a factory cooler, see the following link. There is more to it then just a factory pan, hoses, and cooler set up involved.
Paul Webb's 750-F Cooler Install.

To add to that Tony - one of the trickiest parts of that conversion is the frame mounts for the oil cooler. Japanese 750F Integra's were fitted with a 900F sized oil cooler but Honda did not modify the 750F frame - instead they used a bolt-on mount found quite often on Yahoo Japan - pics below;

The adapters are approximately $65 today, this moment, right now. Tomorrow or an hour from now that may be different.
I would like a set or 2 or 3. I can get Rinkya to buy me some but is it any less expensive to order multiples on one account?
I also want to add to the post about cost. Braided lines and aftermarket coolers can be expensive. I plan to get the adapters(something I can`t find available here), then get an Earls or Setrab oil cooler local, Earls lines and fittings local, and make any brackets needed. I think it will be less expensive, but still expensive, than ordering _everything_ directly from Japan. |

I would say a big yes. I've only had Rinkya buy one non-Yahoo item for me, and the fees were steep - much steeper than processing a Yahoo Auction for the same amount. Shortly after I had Rinkya start the process, the same item (MGW Alternator) was listed on Yahoo so I was able to have Rinkya switch my purchase to the Yahoo Auction instead.
Fees aside, even consolidating shipping will save some dollars. I'm happy to contact Rinkya and start the ball rolling on a price per unit - here's the list I have so far;
genesound X 2
XS650RR X 2
fasterspider X 2
Fpro X 2
TigerST X 1
larryg X 1?
Luckysox X 1
vf1000rs X 2?
So 13 total? If anyone wants dropped from the list, or needs to change the number of adaptors (sold by the pair) let me know before Friday. I'll approach Rinkya on Friday for a price based on the total number of adaptors I have at the time, then report back. |
