Stopped an F'in thief...

I live in a very rural area of south eastern delaware. my new home is about 120 yards back from the road but my shed where my 2 F's sleep is only about 20 yards back. my wife woke me at midnight & said someone is pulling in to driveway. I looked thru the window to see a veh pulling in, then backing out like a turn around. then I saw the veh stop & lights went out. I thought oohhh shit. I grabbed the shorts, shoes & my .38 snub. I popped out the back door & made my way around the edge of the property towards the shed. all the way I could see a bic lighter moving into the shed. My 900F sits close to the door w/ the key in it. I'm scared but I got the drop on this guy I thought to myself. nobody steals my F'in bike. I got behind my dumpster and waited for someone to emerge from the shed. when he did I saw he was carrying a small but heavy load. I jumped up w/ flashlight & .38 & hollard out many obsenities. the guy dropped my 50 lb chop saw & started running. I squeezed off 2 rounds in the air as he in turn started screaming like a little girl.
If I was'nt so mad I would have busted out laughing.. In the veh & down the road he went.. I had my wife call the cops and filed a report accordingly. Ok, he didn't steal my bike, but it was the only thing on my mind at the time. I've lived here since 1987 & never had to lock anything up yet, we leave our keys in the cars & door unlocked, but I guess it's time...

I would not have hesitated if I was in danger, in self defence. other wise, I dont have a back-hoe for proper body disposal & to hell w/ all the paper work & explainations.

I think I'm coming around to thinking an armed deterant is a sensible idea...no real way to do it legally over here mind you!

Like that poor bastard that got murdered in Warrington yesterday by a bunch of teenage wankers… all he was doing was protecting his and his neighbours property.

I was just listening on the radio that these scroats have appeared in court today and were crying and their mothers were upset.

Shoot the f**kers as far as I am concerned… they are no use to society nor ever will be. Shoot the parents at the same time… easy to be upset after the event… where was the parental concern when their 15 year old sons were out on the streets late at night?? People should need a certificate to breed in my opinion, cos most of the breeding crowd in this country don't have a brain cell between them.

I am sick to my back teeth of the PC nanny brigade… make these scum pay dearly for what they do and bang them up for life and make it mean life. No parole, no TV, no pool, hard labour until they die of exhaustion!

I am a paid up socialist, but I cannot tolerate the way society has gone to ruin where shit kids and criminals have all the rights and we have none.

A few months ago in Norwich a guy got mugged when he was walking home from a late night pub. His two muggers didn't realise he was a bootneck until he broke the jaw of one and chased the other into an alley and put him in intensive care!!!

He got 6 months for excessive force and had to pay £750 compensation to his 'victims'.

You can shove your political correctness up your arse as far as i am concerned. We need to reclaim this country (in fact all western countries as it seems to be affecting all of Europe, the states, Oz etc) for the people that contribute to its upkeep and well being.

I am sick of it all…

Great Work! I expect that rat b@st@rd will think twice before attempting to invade someone elses property again.

This is the best lesson that can be learned by those who would take advantage of other people. Some of us CAN fight back and WILL. We are not all PC and when a message is given as AstroLT did, the garbage element might consider self preservation over intrusion.

I am so proud tho hear that you did not go beyond reasonable means to stop the activity but just the same if the intruder was armed and even more brazen, you may have had to defend your life. Godd job on saving 4 rounds just in case.

Hate to bring this up, but now you need to be careful that he does not come back to avenge the fact that you scared the shit out of him and made him scream like a little girl. Fuk'n crackheads dont think like logical people. Shoot to kill! Good job though, dont know how I would have reacted, but I would be armed!

I agree, I would be on super high watch and lock everything up with thick chains. But you also must remember, "A lock only keeps an honest man honest." But at least it will slow down the asses that aren't honest so you can shoot them. Twisted Evil

Not bloody likely, I'd say. What's he going to do, come back and pick a fight with somebody he knows is armed and prepared to kill him? Much easier just to move on to the next house, where there's likely to be a much easier target. If he's looking for his next fix, he's not going to go to any more trouble than he has to get it.

Sounds like you handled this situation exactly right, Astro. I hope you filed a police report though, just in case the guy gets caught and they need someone to identify him.

Great job, Astro! I don't know if you have a carry permit or not, but that's one thing they drill into you: IF YOU DO NOT FEEL YOURSELF/INNOCENT PEOPLE TO BE IN DANGER, YOU HAVE NO RIGHT TO SHOOT!!
As others said, I'd watch my six for awhile. Maybe pick up another sidearm (better yet a shotgun) for the missus, if you don't already have one.
Around my place, the dude really would've shit himself, 'cause TMB would probably be out the door before me--then he'd have 2 pissed-off, well-armed rednecks to worry about! TB

For home protection I use my Mosseberg 500, 18" riot barrel with pistol fore grip and stock. I use shells my brother got me, his police department was given new shells from a company for testing. Its a plastic shell filled with lead dust. When it hits a wall or door it will have a 2 to 3 foot lethal range upon passing through the wall or door. My brother told me when the plastic shell hits the wall or door it vaporizes and the lead dust gets super heated and liquidfies and comes out of the wall or door like a stream in mulitiple directions. Think of it like mini RPG rounds. Great for shooting in the house at bad guys without it passing through the house completely and indangering anyone else. So far all the police departments that recieved them love them and now their developing a round like it for hand guns too. My brother showed me a couple pictures where someone took a direct hit from the shell along with being hit through a wall, very nasty

Thanks for all the support guys. In delaware, u dont need any carry permit unless u go conceiled. u can walk down the road w/ your elephant gun loaded as long as it's not hidden. I have the afore-mentioned .38 snub, .380 auto, 2 - Rugar 9mm auto's, Rugar .45 auto, Rugar .22 Mark I, Taurus .357 Mag, Mossberg 500 riot shotgun, plus a Marlin .22LR w/ a scope sighted to take the wings off flies at under 50 yards. All w/ enough ammo to host another Waco. my wife can & does handle all the above also. unfortunatly I have 3 kids under 4, so I have to keep all weapons out of reach. the 38 is so small it can be hidden in almost plain sight and out of reach of small hands.
I have to thank the frogs & bugs for their help (very loud ) else I think the guy could hear my heart pounding. also I have played alot of paintball. that experience gives a tactical edge & calming effect to overcome the adrenaline push when sneeking up on someone ( who may also be armed ). I don't keep any lights on outside w/ the idea that I know my property well, u don't. the next light u see maybe my muzzle flash. besides, why have a light to show people where all you goods are?
I found and will now buy a laser like motion sensor that will remotley trigger a buzzer or door bell so when someone crosses the threshold of the driveway I will be alerted inside the house.

I got a few jeers at my mossberg from the local hunting crowd, & I said I'm only hunting beasts on 2 legs. it's extremely reliable, works in the mud even. it's good enough for military use. the pistol grip & pump handle look very intimidating, but are only good for very close encounters. BTW did you notice the threaded end of the P22 barrel? specifically made for a sound suppressor or silecncer. I forgot I have a P22 also. is yours ammo sensitive?

Apologies for this hijack Astrolt but this chap went out to ask a gang of teenagers if they'd mind not damaging vehicles parked in his street - a suburban, residential, highly populated area. These fine flowers of 'english' youth turned round and beat this father to pulp so that he died in hospital the next day.

These kids apparently did damage in this street on a regular basis, the Police rounded them up and charged them in a day [so knew who they were]. Even one of the residents expressed her surprise that someone had gone out to remonstrate with the kids saying "We'll they were just damaging cars as usual, thats what kids do"...

So just for the record Andy, I'd shoot the neigbour and the local Police who just accepted this as the 'norm' of life in Britain today. [maybe not shot...but hold them as least as culpable as the kids/Parents who killed him.]

No concept of personal responsibility in vast areas of UK society any more.

Anyway Astrolt, your situation made me think how much 'better' it would be if for 'personal responsibility' if the chances were the person coming out to ask you to stop damaging his car might actually be armed and dangerous to you..... [preferably Armed AND trained, but UK government has seen to it that all UK pistol clubs are now extinct]

great idea, I'm ready for that phone wire. that multiplex cable you have should support a door bell type alarm for hardwired reliability.
when I did what I did the other night, I knew I was doing the right thing, protect my home & family, potentially dangerous but right. what I did not expect was the exceptionally positive responce from all that I tell.
