The dry clutch and race tranny were why I bought it and the ported head just sweetened the deal. |

Ray any idea who made the tranny and dry clutch? What is the advantage of the dry clutch? |

I would think it was made by RSC but who knows who made it?
The advantage is that I am the only CB-Fer that has one. |

I'll try this one: the dry clutch has a better friction degree than the wet one, so you can use less disks, and have less "rotational weights" (I know this term does not exist but you get the idea)
now, how many disks do you have in it Ray ? do I win something (the clutch itself ?) ? was I better be silent ?

I think the only possible advantage for real is the gear ratio in the race transmission {and a smaller rear sprocket} that will give the bike the kind of top end speed that Freddie and Mike used to get on their Super bikes.
Besides Martin said he had heard the dry clutches drag a bit too.
160 mph top end speed is too fast for me but it is gonna be nice knowing that my bike will be able to reach speeds like that if I ever felt the need. |

So after reading what PJay said, I can see the advantages and disadvantages of the dry clutch on a street bike.
But, like I said earlier in this thread, the bike will not see much road use, she is gonna do more show than go.
Rare unobtanium like this dry clutch needs to be seen and heard every now and then and I am just the man to show that shit off if I can get it to work.
But after reading what Nau said, the clutch may well be useless to me because the jack shaft has no way to hook up to the main shaft like a regular clutch does. |

So it turns out that I do not have the primary shaft needed to use the dry clutch, oh well. I will sell it.
I just bought these wheels {F-3 rear & F-2 front} from ebay for $155.00 a piece incuding shipping and will use them on this red bike because the wheels from my crashed red bike are going on my "R"eplica and all my other F-2 front wheels are bent a little bit needing a $125.00 repair plus shipping both ways.
It was cheaper to buy another wheel this time and they will be going to powder coat along with a valve cover, clutch cover and ignition cover for black powder coat while my "R"epli frame gets red powder coat.

That's a bummer about the clutch, but I figr if they were all that, we'd see more of them.
Nice wheels, watch out for those sack kickers |

Harley and Ducati have been using dry clutchs for a long time.

I don't feel bad Martin, I can still sell the dry clutch for a decent buck and there is a ported head with all new stainless valves and race springs going on my 1st & hottest built 1123 motor as soon as I get the new valve seals from APE and all for a low purchase price that I have already made back more than half of.
As soon as the new Nighthawk triple tree gets here that I bought from ebay last week, I can start the build up of replacing my old and crashed red bike with the new and ready for modification red bike. |

Autos use them as well, but none of that means that those dry clutches that fit our bikes worked very well or lasted very long. A good working dry clutch setup might be interesting, but it sounds like too much work and money to be worth it to me for a street bike.
That head does look good though Ray. Ports look like they should keep the velocity up real nicely. Here's the link to the coating shop I used...

Especially with some 39mm FCRs pumping the fuel.
Yes, I am going to buy some more FCRs but I need to sell some goodies first. |

I was just digging through my boxes of new parts for my Arias 1123 motor that I am going to put together soon and found these parts in those boxes.
Arias pistons
All new cam chain & primary tensioners and guides with a new spring and sleeve for the "B" spring which I will not be installing because they only get hard and crack up falling into ones oil pan to block the oil pick up screen.
All new main & rod bearings.
A.P.E. heavy duty valve springs.
And A.P.E. heavy duty cylinder studs.
These are just some of the goodies going into this motor like the lightened and balanced crank and the stock but shot peened & polished rods. There are still things I need like a new Dyna 2000 and some 39mm FCRs but they will come as time slowly passes bye. |

Looks like the third stud from the left is bent at the top. It's just the picture, right? |

Optical illusion because of the plastic wrap and lighting.
None are bent and they are ready for install into the cleanest crank case I have ever seen the inside of.
Here is one more trick item that I forgot to mention, the crank bolts have been replaced with heavy duty studs and nuts.
Evidently Scott was building this motor to endure some serious abuse or he is just into overkill. Either way, it is mine now and I am going to put it together very soon. |

The new triple tree got here today and I can start the rebuild tomorrow of my red bike onto a new frame. I do not need the top clamp or the risers but that bottom clamp is what was holding up the show for the past two weeks.
All I need to do is have the old triple off the bike so I can remove and re-use the new steering head bearings and my front end will be ready for the F-2 front end. |

More pictures on Saturday because that is when I pick up my bike from the shop.
I can hardly wait and want to start now with my re-build but, patience is a virtue. |

My crashed red bike is at home for the 1st since a week after the wreck in March and for the last time as a comlete if not wrecked bike.
The twins are re-united.
This is going to be fun and sad at the same time transferring the parts from one to the other because my 1st red CB1100F is dead now and giving her life force to another bike.
Edgar is here now and is going to help me tear her down. I am off to the garage to get busy on a new Super F out of old Super F parts. |

For some reason when I saved a messege as fasterspider from my inbox, the server automaically logged out fasterspider and logged in spideray.
Ed says "Hello Gene" and now I am going away as spideray to return later on as fasterspider once again. |

Me and Ed got busy breaking her down from above to below and in 30 minutes this is what is left of my crashed bike.
The motor comes out next and then all I have is to remove the wheels, swing arm and forks to throw the rest away.
The frame is definately bent because we had a very hard time removing the exhaust collars and almost had to cut the frame tubes but brute force won out and now I am only another 30 minutes away from a completely stripped down Super F. |
