The fuse cover on my 11F came with a missing tab... no great surprise there... so I finally tried out this Plastex stuff. I used the molding bar around the good tab and actually made a reasonable facsimile for the broken one. I'll reinforce it some more, maybe with some fiberglass, but I think this will work out just fine

I`m confused.. Is that the new piece in the photo?
I also see a crack lower on the photo.
Tell me more. |

Yes, that's the new one. There are no cracks, just casting lines |

I'm looking at the part, you are seeing an illusion. |

Here's another view, different camera, in the sunlight. I'm doing a little cleanup on it while it's still soft, but I think it's time to leave it alone for a day or so now...

It's a bit soon to tell... it's still a bit soft and I'm hoping it will get harder (LOL). I made the first layer late last night for insomnia... then added a layer to the backside where it was too thin a couple of hours ago. If it doesn't get firmer, i'll probably add a layer of fiberglass cloth impregnated with the Plastex for strength. It does seem attached quite well though. |

By the way, the tab was entirely missing from about 1/8" below the hole. |

It's just a scratch or a tool mark, there is no crack. |

I mounted it up this evening, I'll have a look at it in a day or two. I also ordered the fiberglass mesh they recommend, Vicki at Plastex said she'd just send me some!
Tony, that looks like metal tabs epoxied on. Plobably last forever, and you don't often have to look underneath. |

resin, i may try that and see how it works |

I never put the fiberglass mesh on, but it's been on there almost 3 weeks and it's holding fine. A simple fix if it breaks now though.
Oh yeah... and I mounted it with some oversized fiber washers... should be a bit easier on that plastic. |

See this is really funny to me because a "TAB" to me is code for me and my woman for "Trendy Asain Bitch". There are millions of them around here with their prada bags and little dogs. They are basically Paris Hilton, but Asain. They are usually hot.
So when you say you grew a tab, Im thinkin' something like this.

Holy hell. that's (almost) worse than mine used to look like.... I tried hot glue.... no go. After four tries I just said SOD IT and used three back zip ties. You ALMOST cant tell...except for the zip tie that goes across the top........

Zip-ties are my personal duct tape. Love those little bastards. They hold my F together.
Nah, but they do a great job with wires, and light stuff. Not license plates however. |

After several months and numerous removals and re-installations, I can say that without the fiberglass reinforcement that I thought I might do, this stuff has held up. I do Rock Store runs on this bike every Sunday I can... and Ray and I get serious on the way home... over 120... the fuse cover is hanging right and tight. |

Gene, I made a tab for a side cover on my F about three years ago from that stuff. It is still there and has held up perfectly. Plastex really is great stuff. |
