Remember This...?
That was then - Nov 2006 .... Poor Thing!!!
This is today... Not done yet, but today I got it to go... Runs perfectly (As some of you may have noticed, hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to get it to stop.. )
I still have plans for this guy, but I'm going to ride it 500-1000 miles before I move ahead with the next phase...
I consider both of these bikes (and all of the others I've owned) to be the "Real Deal".

To be honest, I kind of like the looks of the upswept stock dual exhaust...Sounds very healthy and my neighbors like it better than the RC, I'm sure...
Actually, the RC is out to the Oncologist having exhaustive ( , get it!!! I just kill me sometimes) corrective surgery... I'm sure it will work it's way back into the equation with the other goodies I have planned... |

I just wish I could find a 4 into 1 that hugged the frame like the stock exhausts... They all seem to stink like that. And no I don't get it but I usually don't... |

another one saved. Good job!
I also like the sound of the stock exhaust. I remember how nice my brand new 1980 750F sounded compared to any other bike out there at the time. When I bought the new 900F in 1981 it had a much deeper tone. The first time I heard an 1100F in 83 it gave me goose bumps (so why did I by the interceptor I will never know).
The only problem is the weight. |

Maybe that will my incentive to lose the 30 pounds I carry around with me... |

Papa, How is your wrist holding up. I remember you said something about a bad case of Uncle Arthur playing with it making using a clutch difficult. Hopefully all will remain well. |

Thanks for asking, but it seems to have cleared up for now... We'll see what happens as the riding picks up this year... |

What a difference Luke, it does not look like the same bike at all.
When am I going to see this bike again in person? That back wheel really looks good. |

Nick,
The coolest stand at this site was crafted, and I do mean crafted, by Bryan Brandt (aka bbrandt). It sits under the frame and is really cool. Send him a PM and see if he will post a picture. Its perfect if you are either parking your bike or working on either end - since it supports the middle. Its very ingenious. |

Tires are Michelin Pilot Road...
Front 110/80-18 on stock 1100F wheel
Rear 170/60-17 on 4.75" (Kosman) widened stock 1100F wheel -
Conversion required only a custom rear brake stay. Needed to grind about 50% off of the head of the rear M/cylinder banjo bolt to clear the brake stay as it moves with the swingarm.....
Otherwise fit like a glove with no other mods!! So far, so good! |

Yep... A Grump Special...!! I put a couple of chips in the rear cowl (don't ask) but touch-up paint is on the way and then the paint job will be back to 99.9%... (Only original is 100%) |

The bike looks awesome |

Thanks, Dave... Actually I made this "Practice" brake stay myself on Johnny's milling machine...My friend, the "real" machinest is going to make the finished piece for me...
It is just a piece of metal with a hole in each end that mounts beside the stock mounts... The tricky part was figuring out how to get clearance so the vertical movement of the stay doesn't shear off the rear m/cylinder... |

It looks like a Michelin Pilot Road tire just like I have on both of my Super Fs.
I have 170 and 180/55ZR17 and it appears that tire is one of those two sizes. |

You called it... 170/60-17
I hope to try out the tires today (after some low speed wear-in) if I get around to installing the brakes...
Honey-do's take precedent over "Honda"-do's today...
But being retired brings a whole new meaning to "Just Do It....Tomorrow" |

I'm not sure that one on the left qualifies as the "Real Deal". But, next time I go by the grocery store on my 1100 I'll ask the check out babe. |
