This is for all you guys, especially the young one's. NEVER, sell a bike you love, no matter what. Some pic's of a bike I had in the mid 80's,
Maybe not the fastest thing around at the time, but sure did handle well, only had a stock motor, but what it lost on speed it made up on the bends. Kept it for about 3 years, then sold it when money got tight, to a girl, who put a brand new 1100 motor in it, she kept it for a couple of years, but I lost track after that. It was built by Mocheck Honda in London
UK and I think I was the second owner. Apart from giving you guys something different to look at,( but still a CB 900), there is a moral to this, DON'T sell it if you love it, there is always a way, somehow, to keep it !! Guess there will be few of you older guys nodding your heads, thinking, yea I wish I'd kept !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, me too. I should have never sold my prized '82 900F. Bought it new in '83, sold it about fifteen years ago and regretted it ever since. Luckily I ran across my 1100F I bought last summer, and this website.

I know what you mean - When I was 19 I had to sell the only bike I ever purchased new because of a cashflow crisis... thought I was over it after all these years but NO, had some time on my hands so built me a replica of it last year [after 22 years!!!, not my F but the RG like my avatar]
Now funnily enough I've bumped into someone to whom I gave a car [Triumph Spitfire] about 9 years ago [after I hadn't used it for about 8 years and was having to clear my garage as I was moving somewhere where I had no storage....] well turns out she hasn't done anything with it either...Perhaps that's this years project sorted out? However I'd have to sell something to clear some space and....
Its a viscious circle!
[When I was a DR, my bikes were serviced by a small firm who's main job was assembling Magnum's - had a soft spot for them ever since] |

1959 Tiger Cub,
1961 BSA A10 Super Rocket,
Triumph 650 Trophy (bought it brand new in 1965),
CZ 250, circa 1970,
BSA B40 350cc,
Suzuki GT 550,
Honda CB 750 K2, (crashed and then restored).
All gone but not forgotten.
Recently bought a 1981 CB750F, easy restoration potential.
This one's a keeper.
Cant type any more, my eyes have gone all misty.

Welcome to the club, hope it's not to cold up there in Bonnie Scotland, ( my mother was born in South Queensferry, guess that makes me 50% Scottish !! )
Harris has gone, but not forgotton, to old now for head down bum up riding, so the CB900 suits me just fine, great riding position, enough power for me ( now ) and still gets a lot of attention over here.
Had her 13 years, so I'll keep her till I can no longer get my leg over, then had it down to Jnr, who's waiting in the wings.!!!

Well, if you can't beat us CB guys, then join the best club at least , I'm sure your still welcome, and yes, it is a great club, already got loads of parts I would never have done if it wasn't for these guys.
Mother was born in a a house called Black Castle, S / Ferry, she was christend in Dalmany Church way back in 1916 !!!!! Coincidence you were so close to-day, spooky.
Anyway, enjoy the club, good hunting for a CB900, and keep warm !!

Yeah, I watched a '69 Mustang go for huge dollars last nit on Barrett Jackson. Like more than 4 times what a '64 Corvette went for the same day. Wish I'd a kept mine. Mostly just because I liked the car. I'll never afford one again. |
