Hey..I test rode the zx1400...a slug!! maybe only compared to the pull at higher rpms..(llike most bikes) slug..hahaaa..I think one would hope it was cause I think id go broke buying rear tires from the impression i got!!
..The bandit is another nice bike that interests me tho, and my dealer says they are coming to canada., but I like the air cooled one better to look at , for the same reason i like my old honda'.No doubt the new one is better.
..But if the zx is a slug...I dunno where that puts my poor old f , and most other bikes!!! To be honest, after having the vrf and the small fairing, a new naked bike wont be on my list..I'm just as happy with the f for that..so in the end, guess I will have to buy the bike they voted on..(and maybe the second one too)

Yeh, but the Kaw14 would still get whooped by any of the litre "hyper bikes", which also go `round corners better. Unless you intend to be "cruising" at 170+mph on a regular basis, I don`t understand the concept. Except for bragging rights.
As for the Bandit: I like the the look of an air cooled motor too. But I have the FJ & 1100f. If I`m going to plunk down $$ for a new bike, I`d like some new technology with it. I like the fact that it has a real seat for rider & passenger. I hardly ever take someone on the back, but like to have the option. I don`t want them sitting on a a 1/2" of padding, a foot higher than me, with their knees up by their ears.
I`d never buy a first year model tho`. |

..I think you miss my point..I want a new bike that is as comfy for me and has the ergos of a sport oriented sport tourer. I dont care if its 1400 or 1000cc..just bigger than 800...But the rest of the zx14 fits me nice and comfy. I dont want the new concours cause i dont like the tanker bikes.. That rules out the litre ss bikes cause I dont want the ergos, and since they are just as quick down low,....so much for the bragging rights thing. Not?
Although it wouldnt bother me when passing the litre bikes to say bye bye..
And as for the whooped thing..hahaa.
As for the bandit.
I already have a bike thats much more advanced than the new nakeds, and a old one that looks just as good.. so no interest there...
I am trying to convince a friend on the bandit tho as he wants a new naked!
Think it should be a good one!

For a while I was set on getting a Sprint, but in the end I realized that I wanted an Italian V twin, so...

Thanks Blues.
The bike is a new 2004 with a custom seat.
I've only had it for a week and its rained every day but one. So I managed a 50 mile ride. It is very comfortable and easy to ride. The hp numbers aren't much different than my 900, but it had huge amounts of torque. I was on a very familiar twisty road and was always surpised, when I checked, about how fast is was going.
On the other hand, it was not that far beyond my 900F as far as feel goes. It main thing is how easy and composed it feels in every situation. Now if the damn rain would stop... |

Well, I have been through this process, and last week bought a VTR1000. By the time you de-restrict it (and here Honda allow the warranty to run even if you de-restrict) it goes pretty well. And of course there is a big cost advantage.
Went hunting Ducatis and GSX-Rs in the twisties yesterday - nothing over 4500rpm and still creamed them. (I just now went out and checked the tires - yep, scuffed all over).
I've owned VFRs, and great machines they are, too. I rode a VFR800 all over England and Wales a few years ago. Great sound, power, balance. But I like the VTR's handling better, and its brakes.
Ya gotta go for variety. How many in-line fours do you want to own or have owned? (This last is a vote for the V4, even more than for the V twins, of course.) |

For starters, I'm a huge Italian bike nut, but Multistarda? The Sprint is a gorgeous motorcycle, but this thing.....Bikes like V-Storm, Buell Ulysses, BMW 1150GS are not the best lookers, but they are capable of serious off-roading, this thing.......It's not a Super Moto either, so whats the deal. Long high speed rides on a Desmo take their toll, and a touring bike with 6000 mile valve adjustments don't make much sense, it's like one trip for some GoldWingers. Gets pricey after a while. I'm sorry, I'm not trying to knock it too much, I just really don't get it, maybe an owner can explain it better. Either way, Ducati should beg for Tamburini to come back. If they keep making bikes like this and 999 they not going to last. |

Does that mean that you like VFRs more than VTR1000? I've always had the VTR on my list and not the VFR. |

Yes, at first I thought that Multistradas were butt ugly. Over time I have come to appreciate what it is and with that see the beauty of the machine and how its built for the purpose it fills. According to everything I've read, it will hang with the latest sportbikes in the twisties and still do gravel and fire roads. The Showa suspension is fully adjustable at both ends. Full Brembo brakes both ends and a wonderful motor. It weights about 460lb fully fueled. Ducati likes that motor so much they are putting it in the soon to be released Hypermotad.
After the first two services, I'm going to take over the duties myself. Today I managed to get out for a while and as I am getting comfortable with the bike, I'm falling in love. BTW, without even trying, I've scrubbed the tires to the edges already. It really handles well. |

Ok, that one I like. And I don't doubt it handles well. I got two
Ducs for a reason. I'd credit that to the same suspention that
the sport models run. Thats exactly it, if it runs sport suspention, it can't possibly do more on dirt than say SuperSport 800. Thats why I don't get the reason to buy that over say ST4 or the SS models. |

I realise that some of my comment VFR cf VTR reads a bit upside down from what I meant.
I personally prefer the VTR, but if you want more "different", then you'd go for the V4 motor in the VFR.
The VTR as a bike is a fine handling chassis looking for a little more power. We can find power (see thread involving our TZ750...) |

Well the funny thing is that the suspension has longer travel and better quality than, say, an ST3. Originally I was going to get an ST3, but my wife and I have decided to move to SE Utah, near Monument Valley. I want to be able to ride on the unimproved roads in the area, but I don't want to sacrifice sportbike handling.
I used to race in Enduros successfully when I was younger and think this bike will work for what I have in mind. There are an abundance of great roads in that area too. |

Unlike you, I keep a bike a long time. I'm sure this one will be the last bike I buy, unless I get a dedicated dirt bike to go with this bike.
Those Triumph triples are very good. In fact I've never read a bad word about that motor. Speed Triples are so cool!
I agree that these are hard to beat for their intended purpose. |
