What RPM @ What MPH

Just got back from riding my "F" and thought of a question, my bike turns 3,600 RPM @ 50 MPH, this seems kind of high to me, what about your bikes, is this what you guys are turning in RPM?

It all depends on: a) front sprocket size, b) rear sprocket size, c) tire size;
all of which contribute to rpm/speed. In stock configuration and assuming you do not have any clutch slippage will give you a set rpm v. speed.

What is your front spocket size (teeth)? What is your rear spocket size (teeth)? Are your tires the OEM size? We need to know if you are OEM stock or with what ratios you are working with to give you the answer you are seeking.

Yeah,

I went to a 43 rear and upped the rpm's pretty well, I'm doing 70+ at 5k rmp.
Before it was 4600-4700 at 70+, I got what I wanted though, faster response and speed but a lower over all top end (always a downside). I did figure out that it's a heck of alot more fun when I hit 6500-7000 in whatever gear I'm in cause the bike gives a substantial kick when it hits those r's, power band like.

All good questions, but I was just wondered if these numbers are normal, if not then I can assume that my sprockets have been changed or my clutch is slipping. Thats why I was wondering what you guys were experiencing.

I run 6500 rpm at 85 mph after I changed my rear sprocket
If your clutch is slipping your going to know it at the 7 grand pull!!!
Mine got pretty bad before I changed it!!!
All good now!!

OK then,

Does anyone else get a huge boost of power at 6500 - 7000 rpm? Or is mine just a beast ?

I really don't think my clutch is slipping, at the mentioned 7 grand pull my bike takes off with me hanging on and my legs flapping in the wind. Laughing

I don't care what RPM my motor turns, really. Rod fragments generally fly downward.

My bike really seems like it is revving high too. 45 mph and I'm turning like 3500, 55 and I'm turning around 4500.

Ughhh I think I might have some clutch slippage... Took my bike out to the freeway and opened her up. When I hit 7 grand it wouldnt accelerate any more. I felt like the bike had more but it wouldnt rev any higher than 7000. Is this clutch slippage or Carb issues?

55@3500.

still a lot to do on than engine, sync carbs, valve ajd, we also get very poor quality fuel, very low octane.

Hal, not a clutch problem, if your clutch was slipping the engine would spin up quicker from less force delivered to the rear wheel. If it won't rev past 7K RPM it'll be somewhere in the tuning.

My 11f spins 4000 at 55 mph, kinda high I think. My CBX at 4000 is at 67 mph. I think my 11 should be geared a little taller and the X a little lower. The X gets 42 mpg and the 11 gets 32.( not on the wick) All bets are off on mpg at big rpm of course

Stock front and rear sprockets (New)
Tsubaki Sigma 530 O Ring chain (New)
Stock carbs and jets
Stock exhaust

Level, straight road

3600 RPM @ 55 MPH
3900 RPM @ 60 MPH

I run at ~5k = 75mph, I went a tooth up in the front though
