Whoa!

Kinda freaky, like the one article said. Considering all the times he played with those big-ass crocs, gators, and poisonious snakes, that a peaceful sting ray gets him.

Had to be a case of mistaken identity.

Regardless, sorry to hear about it for his families sake.

THE PHARAOH thinks it is always sad when a man with young children dies. It must be tragic for them.

On the other hand if you devote a large part of your adult life to poking, proding, squeezing, annoying and just generaly pissing off animals to get a reaction for the camera??? Well lets face it eventualy one of those nasty little creatures is going to get VERY pissed off and do something unexpected. He was filming a documentry called dangerous marine life. In other words Steve is going to find some quite peaceful animals, torment them until they become aggresive film it and sell it. Prehaps he pissed this paticular 2.5 meter sting ray off just a little to much before he got the footage he wanted? If any ones interested a 2.5 meter bull ray has a barb in it's tail that would be between 250mm-350mm long and of similar sharpness and shape to a bread knife on both sides.

Don't worry america, THE PHARAOH is sure there will be another Dick Head out back adventurer with another stupid out back slang word to get your attention very soon .

thats like that guy who played with the grizzlies up in alaska. wasnt bad enough he got himself eaten alive, but he had to drag someone else into the buffet. most people who actually live on a day to day basis within reach of what little wild is left learn fast to just watch from a distance. i liked some of the stuff steve irwin was into, like the conservation programs he promoted and such, but he did glamorize risk-taking and unnessesary contact with creatures who at one time competed with us for [and thought of us as] food. so i guess n a poetic way, this could be considered natural selection of a sort. Also kind of like when Dale Earnheart was killed. My wifes family are NasCar nuts and you'de of thought a family member had died. But what I remember well is them all saying "how could that happen?" HELLO! Yhe guy drove around a race track at 180 m.p.h. with about 30 other guys at a time! I really liked Steve Irwin and feel horrible for his family, but is it really a shock to any of us?

Timothy Treadwell was a whole different kind of Crazy. That guy actually thought he was a bear!!! I agree with the conservation thing though.

although i've only just moved to Aus, i feel perhaps i could fill this obvious void... i think i have the required look, especially when at the beach wearing my revealing yellow ' budgie snugglers' , plus my suit case is full of sport-casual attire.. tan desert boots, colourful VFL footy sock and matching ass huggin footy shorts, sleaveless 'cow fucker' shirt , terry towling pork pie hat and finished of with a pair off mirror Raybans..
all i need is the signature phrase to capture the imagination of the Americans... obviously "fuck-sticks" wont pass the TV censors so perhaps i'd take up vimike's handle and use "shit-stickers"?
here's an example....
" hey viewers, check out that little Wallaby over there, bet if i prod him with my foot he'd get pretty pissed off eh ? lets see what happens .... JESUS, the little shit-sticker bit me !!! MEDIC !!!! "

PISS OFF freebaggin, THE PHARAOH is all over this like shit on a blanket,he already has his wardrobe selected, sandels (sandles with socks if it's cold) or ugg boots if he has to travel south of Broome, he will also wear faded blue shorts, matching faded blue tank top and one of those stupid hats with old corks tied to it. THE PHARAOH will have 3 assistants on the show, a blond ,a brunette both with "great naturals" only wearing biknis and a Thai lady boy. The show will be called "THE PHARAOHS OUT BACK SHOOTING ADVENTURES" and will be centered around THE PHARAOHS ute. THE PHARAOH will stand in the back of the ute (the 2 girls will sit behind THE PHARAOH) THE PHARAOH will steady his rifle on the shoulder of the lady boy and shoot any animal stupid enough to come into THE PHARAOHS sights. Now here comes the captivating part of the show, after THE PHARAOH has blown something away the ute will stop the camera man will then focus on the girls who jump out, run to the dead animal and drag the carcus back to the ute. THE PHARAOH will then inspect it, give a breif discription of what it was what it liked to eat an so on. THE PHARAOHS signature phrase?? "IF YOU CAN'T ROOT IT SHOOT IT" always said as THE PHARAOH is fixated on the bikini girls. THE PHARAOH will also do "special hunts" for things like feral cats. IMAGIN THE BIKNI GIRLS RUNNING BACK TO THE UTE WITH HAND FULLS OF PUSSY!!! the ratings would go through the roof.

It seems that a some folks have the old "if you play with fire" attitude down fairly well.I have personally had some people question my sanity/ maturity based on the fact that I love to ride motorcycles. My reply to them is always the same: "whats life without risk?" The man lost his life doing something he was passionate about. Yeah sure, he got paid to do it, would any of us turn down a gig getting paid to ride our bikes? I would'nt. But thats life, nothing more than a calculated risk, a risk we all take when we swing a leg over our favorite bike and go for a spin. Skydiving, scubadiving, what have you. It's all a chance we are willing to take. I'm not trying to justify his death by saying that he lost his life doing what he loved, none of us want to become a hood ornamant on a Toyota while going for a ride. It's just that I can't see pointing a smug "It was gonna happen sometime" finger at someone when we are all in the same boat. God bless you Steve.

That goes for all of us on a bike. It could happen any day. And if we like to ride something dangerous, I will make sure to blame you for the decision of riding when you die. Many people already do.

Yes. He played with fire and got burned. But I am sorry to hear it. He payed the ultimate price for doing what he wanted to do.

And I hope to be able to be given the chance to die the same way doing something or someone I love. Wink

would we drop what we like to do, because there is a very tiny possibility that we could kill doing that?
beside the man makes his living out of that. how many of us get pay to drive our bikes? i'll love to get to drive my f, instead of me paying her so she can take around.

Why is that smugness?

I don't see anyone saying he deserved to die......but some of us are not surprised considering the risky business he chose to engage in....and to most of us he was nothing more than a celebrity. He seemed like a decent guy but i personally won't miss him any more than i'd miss any Hollywood star.

matt is correct in that nobody begrudged irwin for choosing a lifestyle that lead to taking chances. hell, most of us take chances that could have lethal repercussions just walking out of the house everyday
i admire the good influence and work steve irwin did to help environmental issues, and on some level even found some of his antics funny or educational. the problem i have with the guy was the way he would provoke and harrass animals on a level that was strictly for the benefit of entertainment, not education. people from marlin perkens to jacques coustou to walt disney used animals as props for monetary gain on TV for most of my life, so i cant say i am any better than anyone else for not watching this interaction. one would think that, in this day and age, we wouldnt need a clown with a trick pony or an organ grinder with a monkey to appreciate wild animals in their own environment.

I used to be a real fan of the Crocodile Hunter. He was entertaining and seemed really sincere about his work.
He lost me from his fan base after seeing him feeding a chicken carcass to a big croc (from about two feet away) with one hand while holding his six-month-old baby in the other hand. After that stunt it was obvious he was just another ass-clown with an act in front of a camera. With that said his un-timely meeting with the stingray was a real tragedy.

THE PHARAOH would like to remind you that after the this "baby holding" incident he went on US tv and explained that he was training his son about the family business, he then went on to explain that's why he had the most "croc savy" daughter on the planet!! Australians didn't need an explaination every one here knows once a salt water croc is out of the water it's "F'ed" while they are capable of launching themselves out of the water at 60-70 kph. Once they are on land they would be lucky to sprint at 1 kph THE PHARAOHS Grand Mother with 2 plastic hips and her walker standing 2 feet away could out run a salt water croc on land. THE PHARAOH is not wanting to detract from his original statement though, if you torment wild animals in front of a camera for profit eventualy some thing will go wrong, the news reports say Steve wasn't seen tormenting the sting ray in the video footage...... but what had he done to it before the cameras were turned on? what did he do to it the day before?

I think Steve Irwin was the most Genuine person on Australian TV.
Some folks say he got in the faces of these Animals for TV and Entertainment purposes only, I think that is a load of ,well Croc shit"

I know within my family he bought the plight of worlds Endangered creatures "Great and small" to the fore front of our minds, his passion and Enthusiasm was unmatched.and he put his money were his mouth is staight back in to conservation and helping these animals to survive, for future generations.

As far as the incident that took place at his park on the sunshine coast in Queensland where it looks like he is danggling little bob in front of a Croc, That too was not reported Correctly.I was not there on that day but from personal eyewitnesses he was not as close to the Croc as the camera shows,it is because of the camera angle it looks as if he is much closer than he really was,the footage you see is from one of the commercial stations here in OZ.

there were other TV net works there filming on that day and they didnt show there footage of that Incident as there was nothing in it.

so For your fight to preserve the habbitat, of these Creatures "Great and small".
For putting your money back in to your Fight for preservation, and for Educating of the general public. I say

GOOD ONYA STEVE Your work on earth "was well done" now RIP

2Bob
