kinda curious what everyone wheres while riding cause me and my brothers got to talking about it. My one brother wheres a full leather/kevlar battle suit (as we like to call it), boots, gloves, and full helmet. Me and my other brother are on the same ground. I usually wear normal boots, jeans, t-shirt, if its cold enough a leather jacket, always leather gloves and a full hemlet with face shield (when I get some more money I'm getting full face helmet. If I'm going to work, I usually wear my dress shoes, slacks, and polo shirt along with my gloves and helmet. What does everyone else wear while riding?

90 degrees and I am in my leather. I like my tattoos way to much and have spent way to much money on them to ruin them in 2 seconds.

I always try to wear a leather jacket and gloves.
Most of the time - riding boots and jeans but not always.
Like zman said - dress for the fall - especially if the destination is the ride itself and not commuting to work.

From home to work (about a mile) I wear long pants, real shoes and sometimes a short sleeve shirt with open face helmet and gloves. Anything longer always long sleeves.

On the track, boots w/ shin & heel protectors, full face helmet, gloves w/ kevlar knuckles & extra palm leather, one-piece leathers with integral hard back, knee, shin, hip, shoulder and elbow protectors and a lanyard with my insurance and medical information. Hopefully it'll be like that extra part in the garage that you'll never need, but only because you have it.

I always dress for the unexpected.
Given my new coat - joe rocket 3 in 1
strips down to a mesh with plates,
I always wear leather gloves heavy jeans and shoes.
The shoes are going to be replaced next...
I took a rock or something off the front of my left ancle at 120 k..
That felt real good.......
Bottom line, ya never know....

I picked up a Joe Rocket "ALter EGO" jacket and pants.
They have a waterproof liner (for realy cold and or wet riding) that can be removed.
A huge chunk of the jacket (the chest, under the arms and accross the back) can be removed as well reveiling a mesh jacket.
A smaller section of the pant can be zipped out to show the same mesh.

I bought the pant large enought to fit over a set of work pants because I got tired or clening the bugs from my knees before work.

Now I wear this get up a set of leather gloves, a good set of boots and a full face helmet. (yes Ray I removed the bar code Embarassed )
I change my shoes when I get to work.

Bug free and safe Cool

I really dislike sweating so leather is out but I did buy a Alpinestar Airflow textile jacket and I love it. I can handle it up to about 90 degrees then off it comes. If I'm just riding around town ie to the store or out to my buddies I go as I am. If the temp is fair I wear leather boots and always gloves and a full face helmet, I cant stand not wearing a full face helmet, the hell with that wind in your face free feeling. I just wear jeans all the time but am thinking of a pair of Draggin Jeans for XMas.

I usually wear a Joe Rocket Pheonix jacket, jeans, boots, good gloves, and a full face helmet. When it gets cool I break out a leather jacket with armor. What surprised me about the Joe Rocket jacket is that it is actually cooler than not wearing it.

I hate to be critical...but this just drives me nuts sometimes....The correct word is WEAR....sorry! Rolling Eyes

But to answer the question...normally I wear an armoured jacket and jeans...sometimes chaps....boots and gloves, full face helmet.

ATGATT = all the gear all the time. When Bob and I rode home from the Hot springs ride in BC, I still had my jacket, pants, boots and full face helmet on even though it was 102' F in easterm WA. We sure made lots of stops for water. Laughing

Randy, I just picked up the same Joe Rocket Alter Ego jacket this week. Cool Hopefully I will get to try it soon.

Joe Rocket Phoenix Gloves (Great for high heat riding)
And my Icon TiMax Mesh Jacket with titanium plating (Good in the heat)
And my SHoei TZ-R helmet. (Not so great in the heat).
And a pair of jean pants with steel toe boots that cover up the ankles as well.

I dress to crash for the most part.
Even in the high Arizona heat you will find me wearing the before mentioned.
I just try to beat the heat and ride at the right times.

I would rather deal with being hot and sweaty, than tearing off large portions of skin or loosing my head.

But dang. I thought I was going to die not long ago riding the 230 miles down to Tucson through Phoenix in 114 degree weather. Evil or Very Mad
Should have gone at night.
Hindsight 20/20. Confused

usually i wear a big grin, riding a motorcycle while wearing a lot of gear, is like having sex with a condom, yes, youre safer but it just aint the same! a face helmet on a 90 degree day just ruins it for me. believe me i dont enjoy road rash, ive had my share. but if i lived in a state that required me to wear leather in july, ill take the convertible! im a grown man, i know the risks. i ride sober and sane. Cool

I always wear leather boots of somekind either my steel toes or my cowboys and jeans and a full face helmet(always wear eye protection cause a visor flipped up is a waste of money because when the burr something out of your eye in the hospital isnt pleasant) i only wear my leather when is 75 degrees and colder because its just too damn hot to wear something unvented.Ive had road rash before and ill probly have it again.

I always wear jeans and boots.
In Oregon, you have to wear a helmet, but I wouldn't wear one all the time if I wasn't forced to.

About a year ago, I rode the bike across the country, and didn't wear a helmet in any state I did not have to. It felt great. So good that, instead of wearing the full-face over the Rockies (where it would have made sense in the cold) I wore this instead:

I don't ever feel comfortable in shorts, and almost always wear a leather jacket.

But it was smoking hot in the Badllands, so I took off the jacket soon after this picture was taken:

Since my crash. When going on a substantial ride I wear the full Battle Suit. perforated leather jacket w/ armor, mesh pants w/ armor, boots, full face helmet, and gloves. To work (only 2 miles never over 40) its usually work pants, work boots, leather jacket, gloves and helmet. If i'd been wearing the riding pants when i crashed my rear end wouldn't be mostly scar tissue that itches contantly. I was just wearing a pair of lightweight street pants that day. I was also wearin a pair cheapo nitro boots that day which shredded one of the soles ripped right off but my feet and ankles survived intact. It's no fun sliding down the highway at 65 but at least neither me or the bike tumbled or hit anything else.

Personally I would feel far more comfortable riding in shorts than without a helmet, and I NEVER ride in shorts! Road rash and broken bones will heal, the mush inside my skull may not fare so well!
My minimum gear is jeans, jean jacket, runners, gloves and a helmet. Okay, so on the really hot days the jean jacket may be bungeed to the seat, but that depends on where I'm headed.

Maybe its the memory of all the bicycle crashes I had as a kid. I vividly recall the skinned arms/legs/elbows/knees, but never skinned my face or hurt my head.

I know I'm going a little faster now, but I always imagine the burning pain of lost skin. And that's what makes me too uncomfortable to ever ride without body protection.

The wind (and bugs and rocks) in your face just feels so good! Very Happy

Its not really a rational decision.

I've abused the mush inside my head in extensive fashion over the years, and, far from regretting it, I see no end.

Perhaps that's a result of said abuse? Shocked Laughing
