The finish on my motor has lost its luster. It has an oxidized look to the black. What have you folks done, short of repainting to help bring back the black?

djhurayt, I have had excellent results with a product called S100 Engine Brightener. Just spray it on the dulled engine paint and wipe it off. It will bring the factory shine back to the faded paint. It also works great on sun faded plastics and rubber. You will not be disappointed. Hope this helps.

FYI

http://www.s100.com/s100_eb.htm

I have seen it at many cycle shops and dealers. You can probably find it online if you Google it.

I too have had good luck with S100... So for in my rebuild process it did shine the case very nicely.. I'm not sure how it long it will hold up (i.e. how often it will need to be reapplied) but for now I'm a happy customer..
