Hello. This is my 1979 750F that I just completed a frame off restoration on. It came out very nice and with some help from the pages of this web site. I love this bike and it's a keeper. Had one brand new in 79 and have looked for one for a number of years. This one has 10,000 miles on it and came from WI. I own a motorcycle shop in upstate NY and we do restoration work as well as every day repairs. Check our website if you are interested in resto work. Thanks again to this great site and all of the useful information and parts sources.

Nice looking bike. Congrats on a great job.

Did you do any motor work or just the externals?

Looks really nice! I'm down in Altamont and have been going to Matt's Honda in Coxsackie for odds and ends. You're a lot closer to my work though--I'll stop up soon.

Pretty! Note the 1979 specific turnsignals with the chrome rims around the lens. Pretty!

I got the black '79 750 and you have just made me nuts. Beautiful F. I wish the weather here would get cold so I can rip mine apart. Sort of, riding in January is all fun. I was going to paint my engine black but now I just don't know.

Didn't have to, 79s came that way. Actually 79s are the ONLY ones that came with Comstars. Everything else came with REVERSE Comstars.

The Hondaline rack for 79s is different too. They had removable supports. I sold a 79 rack to our man Tenessee_Budd.

79s are getting rarer and rarer, which is why mine will remain fairly stock. My piles however.......

Wicked beautiful bike!!!!

Hey..........thanks everyone for the wonderful compliments on my 750F. It means more here than anywhere else considering this web site is the last word on these bikes.

Had one of these brand new in 1979. Put 42,000 miles on it in 2 seasons! Loved every mile of it. 27 years later and I had to have another one.

comstar wheels were silver in 78 and 79. black reverse comstar after that. Yes, I did work on the engine however, I did not completely tear it down. completely rebuilt the carbs of course and mostly top end work aside from repainting the cases and buffing the covers.

This bike runs as good as it looks too! The only deviation from completely stock is the 4 into 1 Jardine exhaust and a K & N air filter along with the jetting to make it run. Otherwise it's completely original right down to the decals and grips.

Of course the tires and battery are not the originals. I just couldn't put on the old lousy dunlops or bridgestones. I used continental modern style tires in the original size.

I would love to go on a ride with classic bikes. I am taking it to Daytona bike week in March. Anyone else going?

Jim

Very, very nice... I have a '79 that I'd like to make look that nice, but I don't have the patience. As soon as the motor runs, and the bike rolls I can't help but hurry up so I can ride it. One of the things I noticed was that on the '79 750F versus later years F-bikes is that there's a lot more chrome nuts, bolts and better finished parts all over the '79 bike versus the later year's F-bike zinc bolts and unfinished parts.

that is very true about the 79 bikes. I never liked the subsequent years as they did cheapen them up as you said. Also, they went to the awful 80 MPH speedometer. Stupid government shit. However, I know they added a bit more power and got rid of the crappy plastic swing arm bushings. I replaced mine with NOS plastic bushings as I want it completely original and have no plans to chuck in to any corners very fast. I have other bikes for that, notably an 01 VFR and several race bikes. The stock FVQ shocks are also pretty crappy but they are original. I am in the market for a 79 RED CBX in restorable condition. That's my next bike to do a frame off with. I also have a 77 CB400F. These 79 models are very difficult to find in resonable shape. Wonder why?

The first thing I thought of when I looked at the pic of your bike was that I was looking at an assembled Tamiya 1/6th scale model of the 750F. Shocked
Outstanding job on that resto Jim! Truly a work of art! Cool Cool

Really nice job. You are an easy day trip for me, I will be paying a visit sometime over the winter to see this fine machine in person and check out your shop. It is great to see someone willing to work on these "vintage" machines. Lots of shops prefer not to.
