Who's commin'? Cool

The only real question for me is, take the ocean on my prestine 1100F? Or the 101? 8 hours on my sweet F with the woman on the back or 4? Razz

Well although the scenery is awesome on the 1, I would take the 4 hour trip. Every time I get on the one I am stuck behind a slow ass buss, or somthing else, bad, not to mention the tourists that drive it and cut all the corners.

I would like to take the 1 in a cage, but on my bike I would be upset.

I was in Ohio once, just once. Razz
That is not really true, I have been thru Ohio a few times.
Ohio has one of the coolest museums on the planet, the Air Force Museum. That is where I saw the XB-70, a very cool but not produced aircraft.

That's in Dayton. Don't know when you've been there last time, but they have done an extensive job upgrading it a few years ago.
There are some other nice places worth seeing in Ohio: the Rock'n Roll Hall Of Fame in Cleveland, the Football Hall Of Fame in Canton, the AMA Motorcycle museum in Pickerington and if you want to try your fast bike- if you have one - on a track, there is plenty of opportunity from basically May through October at both Nelson Ledges and Mid-Ohio

It has been many years since I was at the museum and maybe next year I will be able to stop and see some of the places you just mentioned. They sound like places I would like to see, thanks.

How bout if you do the 1 or 101, then flip over to the 25 and ride up to Carmel Valley Road?
The 25 is a great motorcycle road and not swamped with motorhomes. Be sure to get thru there early as it will be hot as you pass thru the Central Valley. Get a map. youll see that the 25 sneaks right into Laguna Seca.

I was at Wright-Patterson 2 years ago, and visited the air museum there. What a great place! I had my picture taken with several WWII aircraft. I am going to the new Air/space museum at the Smithsonian next week. The Navy air musem at Pennsecola is also a must see.

I have 2 of my customers here who are retired Army/air officers who flew B-17's in WWII. If you ever want to meet someone who is proud of being an American, and thankful for what we have here, sit and talk with one of those guys.

My two boys and I were there the whole week-end last year. What a great event. I just looked around for hotel space last week and couldn't find anything reasonable. Doesn't look like we will be going this year. Our preferred method is to find a place within walking distance of the bus line. We drove a car in and out of there everyday the first year we went out there. Big mistake, won't ever do that again. The bus is the way to go unless you are kucky enough to be local and be able to ride.

You drove to the races? Thats ALWAYS a bad idea. My family goes to the historical races every year, and we done it for the past 15 years or so and the hotel rooms are booked a year in a advance. The GP races Im sure will get to be the same way. The rates always suck, but I just LOVE that town. If I couldnt live in LA (puke) and I got kicked out of Santa Barbara, I would live there.

First-timer. I didn't know any better. We had a free room at the Embassy up by SFO. We drove back and forth everyday. The only really bad drive was Sunday night going back to San Francisco. Other than getting out of Laguna and out of the Monterey area. That was in 2001

Looks like tickets can still be had but, rooms seem to be impossible.

Just to let you guys like me who are east of the Mississippi know, the Honda AMA Superbike Championships are April 21-23, 2006 at Barbers MotorSports Park in Birmingham, AL. I went this past April, and it was insane. I don't know how many tens of thousands of people were there, but I know that just about every bike imaginable was either parked or buzzing around the place.

Try this...You take the F up Highway 1 to Laguna, your girl drives up highway 101 and meets you with the camping gear in Monterey. There is a great campground in Pacific Grove and if you ride south to Big Sur there is endless camping in the park and on the beach.

I bought tickets for the second grand stand becuase a) I dont want to fist fight people for a vantage in the corkscrew b) my girlfriend is only 5 feet tall c) I like the vantage of turn 4.
There are a ton of great places to watch the race at Laguna.... sitting down in turn four isnt a bad way to go about it.

Yeah bu the corkscrew looks awesome with bikes. Best turn ever made, I think. Let's you know how good you really are when you loose all your downforce half way into a sharp right hander.
Too much throttle and you gone.
But when you get it down just right with what your riding or driving, it is sweet.
