i think i just did. i got my 900 just the way i wanted, except i wanted an 1100 motor. found a great running 11 rust bucket and realized, why not have two bikes? leave the nine alone. so i started collecting parts like a mad man. f2 this, f2 that, side covers, gas caps, trick seat, tail panel, not to mention the 11 swingarm i never installed on the 9 because i found a metmachex, and now i just got another complete 11 minus block.
what the F am i gonna do with this stuff? i'm going to have two complete 11 wheels sets along with one really nice set of 9 comstars. at least two 11 swing arms. at least two, maybe three sets of 4 into 1s. i'm think i'm starting to see a serious problem developing here. how many of you have gotten this sick and how have you recovered? |

Recovered? Did you bump your head?
I sold my extra 1100F wheels and all kinds of stuff. They will buy it if you put it up for sale. |

I think this statement could safely be considered an oxymoron...
Recovery from this addiction requires a 12 step program as follows:
Step 1 - Find items and accessories that you want to add to your F on Ebay.
Step 2 - Carefully note the reserve price status of item as well as the possibility of "buy it now". Do not use the "BIN" option. Especially note the exact date and time of auction end.
Step 3 - Reserve time in your schedule to be online and waiting at least 10 minutes before auction end. At this time, consider what your maximum bid for this item will be.
Step 4 - Keep the pre-selected maximum bid figure in mind and wait until 1 minute before auction end.
Step 5 - At 30 seconds to auction end, take a big breath and prepare for action.
Step 6 - With 15 seconds left to go, stand up from you computer desk.
Step 7 - With 5 seconds left to go until auction end, take one full step backward.
Step 8 - Take 1 more full step backward.
Step 9 - Take 1 more full step backward.
Step 10 - Take 1 more full step backward.
Step 11 - Take 1 more full step backward. You should now be located across the room from the computer desk and mouse.
Step 12, Final Step - Run quickly back to the computer and confirm that you have missed applying your maximum bid before the auction end time.
That's all there is too it.... Repeat as necessary...

Well if I need any parts I know who to ask...LARRYG is the name to remember.
I would like to be half that bad. but garage space is limited (this is why we are looking for a bigger chunk of land) and the wife says "4 guitars, 3 amps, stereo equiptment all over, computers, snow mobiles, tools, mountain bike, two motorcycles, and you want more motorcycles...we need a bigger garage"....I say....OK!!! |

Along about step 9 or 10, you may have to adjust the method to account for falling over the coffee table or climbing back down from the refridgerator.... ...it'll come naturally soon enough though...
As always Gord ! Just glad I could help! A Merry and Happy to you and yours as well! (*Santa smilie goes here*) |

Wait until the weather starts to turn next spring. Or when guys realize spring is coming and they haven't gotten the winter bike projects done. You'll have no problem selling that stuff on eBay. |

Well Larry, it sounds to me like you are preparing to ride a now 25 year old bike(s) into the foreseeable future. Parts hording is the only way to accomplish this. If the Old Lady is telling you you are loosing it explain to her the transportation logistical conservation ethics you have acquired that make you an exceptionally prepared man. It that does not work the build/buy a storage shed for the yard that will contain ONLY motorcycle spares stockpiled items. Remember that it needs to be 100% larger that your current space requirements. This way the neighbors & the Little Woman are preened.
Could be worse: You could be driving a soon to be 37 year old 4WD truck. I can't drive by a, dead in the yard, 69-71 Dodge truck without wondering who owns it & is it for sale at a reasonable price. Old vehicles are like Lays potato chips: "You can't have just one!"
I used to be into International Harvester Scouts but that got out of control & I had to quite cold turkey & sell everything off. Scouts or any other Corn-Binder vehicle require acres of spare parts.
Of course a viable alternative is to be like the vast majority of people & just buy a new vehicle every three years. |

I agree. Nope. And I don't even have an F yet.

Why wait? I'm an F'n wannabe and would gladly help encourage your addiction by letting you store 1100f stuff in my garage. |

You are getting close to over load, but it requires owning at least 5 running F bikes to really start approaching overload.
You can sell some parts in order to afford to buy some other parts and on and on and on and etc...
Spares are mandatory if you ride... |

Larry,
It's time to make 3 F's, you only need a couple of extra parts.

True... I have a nice 900f 8k motor in my basement, Larry. Seeing as how you have an empty frame and all... |

The only way to improve the collection is by adding a CBX. When you are done with the various stuff, gimme a shout, you have the number! I'd rather have an 11F, I have a 5000 mile 9 motor. |

So uhh... what would a 900f motor go for exactly. That is if I was completly tearing apart my 750f this winter. |

Overload? Oh, that was that red area of the gauge I entered when I bought an F.
Hell, I'm looking at a Wing I may buy. I went off the scale some time ago. I think it's like having too many women in bed at once. Haven't yet got too many, but then I'm young & inexperienced. TB |

There is always room on the floor if there are "too many" women on the bed. |

my wife is the greatest. she even helped me push/load up the second F through the snow in her nice clothes. the third F , the second in as many weeks, had a slightly concerned look on her face. i'm afraid if i bring home a fourth it will be ME on the floor. and there aint no other broads down the either. i believe i'll be dialing it down a notch for a little bit. |

Yes, four seems to be the number that causes the wife to put on the brakes. (was for me, anyway) But, there seems to be no limit on parts, as long as they are neatly stored away and kept out of the living room. (so far, anyway) |

I am lucky Laurie does not mind parts in the livingroom as long as I take her with me on the bike. |

If I could just get a nice 3 car garage or bigger set up in the future I would have no problem keeping my parts out there.
But then again she will have to keep her crap out of my area too.
No glitter or artsy fartsy stuff in the auto shop.
Just need a good stereo, some climate control, a fridge, microwave, and good lighting and she won't ever have to see me if she does not want to.
Maybe a bed too...
Put up all my posters and old car tins and adds, add a dart board.
That would be heavin. |
