I seen the other post about the engine paint. some that were recommended if I recall where the type used for repainting BBQ's. I just got done using DUPLI-COLOR high heat Ceramic Black. got it and Murry's auto parts.
The guy who powdercoated my frame recommend a ceramic paint for the motor and exhaust
If I could figure out how to paste a pic in here I would but I do have a picture of the motor in the gallery

Rustoleum 'High-temp' Barbecue paint is available pretty much everywhere and has a nice semi-gloss finish;

I debated this with myself for the last year.
My valve cover was all chipped and peeling and oxide. I stripped all the old stuff of and buffed it with a scotch bright (people recommand the red)
Any how I was unhappy with the results. I just painted it with DUPLI-COLOR engine enamel ceramic ALUMINUM DE1615 we'll see how that turns out. I do believe that they DUPLI-COLOR make a clear.

How the hell do y'all get 'em that pretty? I'm too anxious to ride--no time for all that cleaning. You must all be better hung than I am, & have an ol' lady to do it. TB |

Duplicolor makes a high temp clear but why would you do that ?....just chrome it. ..... Along with the clutch cover, ignition cover, sprocket cover, generator cover, and starter cover. Or better yet, gold plate. |

Oh yes there is a very nice clear powder coating.
I have my gold rotor centers and an ignition cover powder coated Sun Gold with clear coat on top.
They look sweet. |

Once all that old clear lacquer is off I found it just as easy to keep it nice with Autosol or Neverdull or any of the aluminum polishes.
I keep contemplating doing an engine with gloss black cases and head, glass bead and clear lacquer the cylinder and a polished valve cover. I'm sure that someone here has done it, any pictures?
I'm not overly thrilled with the results from any of the matte or semi-gloss black that I have used. I think that they are a bit to flat to match the stock finish. |

So that it would be different than the silver bike, on the black bike I used gloss black with satin ignition and alternator covers;

I used gloss black VHT caliper paint on the last engine, supposed to take the heat, really good gloss, says it's ceramic, only question is how it will stand up to oil and fuel. I can't see that it would be a problem, considering where brakes live. |
