I just walked by my bike at lunch and noticed that the gas cap locking hold down was unlocked and up. I put gas in it last Friday and haven't noticed anything unusual, until just now.

Can those things pop up if the are not locked down correctly.

Has anybody ever noticed this?

Or is someone casing my bike?

The ignition and gas tank lock take one key and the helmet lock takes another.

On my CBX one key locks everything.
On my 750F, that was the case until my ign lock went poop, and freddie hooked me up with a lock.

One key is supposed to operate all three. If it doesn't, something's been changed since new.
Here's a set out of the UK for $35

And one here for $15 no reserve

I don't think the gas cap lock has any tumblers in it... Every honda key I have will open my tank, but you have to have the right one to get either the ignition or helmet lock to work.

If you have the time, you can disassemble the helmet lock and "re-key" it to work with your existing ignition switch. You have to take the lock off the seat mount and pry the little metal cover off it's back to get the guts out. I had a couple of old locks around, so I just swapped tumblers to make mine work with the ignition key.

If you don't have spare tumblers, just use the ones you can make work and discard the rest. The key will still work, it's just not as secure. To tell the truth, there not very secure in the first place, so you aren't losing much! Rolling Eyes

Another trick some people have done is to take both keys to a locksmith and have him cut one side of a new key like the ignition switch and the other side like the helmet lock. This way you only have to carry one key and you always have a 50% chance of putting it in right the first time.
