I can't leave this one out...... this little red rocket was bullet proof and took anything you could throw at it. I put 20K hard miles on this one and then bought another fresh one and continued on. I got so many tickets on this bike, it was an amazement in of itself Twisted Evil

74 Kawi 750 H2 set up for road racing claimed 120 hp. Rode it a few times and it scared the #%^& out of me.

I would like to try it again.

First time I saw 140mph, REPEATEDLY.....150 more then once. I really liked my 1100f, but she has recently been sold. I have been riding a Kaw ZRX1200R for the past 3 yrs, it's great fun as have all my bikes right down to the "artic cat 50" pull start mini bike I had when i was 11.
But I have driven my friend's 2004 Kaw ZX10R a few times over the past month and it is amazing, feels like it's gonna rip your arms off at 8 grand and it doesn't redline til 13,500. I have seen him pull off 180-200 km/hr wheelies easliy. Plus it ripps through twisty roads like nothing I have ever driven.
I think the Triumph Speed Triple may find a spot in my garage next year.

I have alway heard mythic tales anout the Magna's.

I always thought they looked like a cruiser. Anybody here ever owned one?

I would have to say that I give an honorable mention to the V65 Sabre. That was also a kick ass bike in it's day.

Without a doubt my "79" CBX Blk/Silver. With a 6 into one pipe the sound of this bike had to be heard to be belived. This was also one of the smoothest bikes (engine wise) that is that I have ever ridden. With that super wide engine it was really something to look at also.
My current 1100F is faster and "gasp" lighter than the CBX. Cheers--

Back in 82 when I was 21 this bike was a hand full for sure!!!
KZ1300 Touring that was in a fire & built back up as a hopped up
rat bike.
It was very fast for the day the cops in windsor wouldn`t even chase
it, they would just wait for me at my house .
It got so I just had to move.

I owned a watercooled 75 Suzuki, GT750 It was the water buffalo, not the rotary.

The smoothest motorcycle I have ever ridden with the best seat. (When not on the two stroke surge with no load)

S&W shocks
Dunlop K81's
brazed a hole shut on the damper rods
new fork springs
bassani pipes

Handled decent, went ok, low 12's at the grads

The CBX has to rank at the top for sound and just looking killer, even the touring modal with the fairing and hard bags was ahead of it time.

A V65, you have got to be kidding!

I had a friend (who is dead now) that had several collector bikes. Among them were a Vincent and another bike that I can not remember the name of that really impressed me with engineering and design. He loved telling about how he had a hard time riding the Vincent with his group of Harley friends, because the Vincent did not want to go that slow.

it would hover the front wheel in the air all day long. I'm still looking for that kind of throttle response from a 4-stroke.

-All the '80's Suzuki GS series from 750 up,
felt like your arms were getting ripped out of your sockets, no CB, KZ, or XS felt so fast. I worked my way up to the 1100 and still kick myself for not buying the '84 GS1150. I still love them to death and would have never switched to CBs if GSes would not fall apart on me so often.

-And the '84 GPZ900R,
It was the first step to all the ZX, CBR, YZF, and other stuff running around today. Everything was so well thought out on it. The engine was compact, the exhaust didn't drag on the ground in a hard lean, the monoshock, radiator, anti-dive that worked. It handled like a champ and outran bigger bikes of its era with no problem.

-The 'Busa, GSXR1300,
everyone knows its super fast, but you don't realize how fast until you ride it. And its amezingly light for a 1300 and turns really well. I can't believe it's just a stock factory bike. I found myself trying to catch up to people and overshooting them by about a 1/4 mile. But it's still way too ugly to own.

Any Honda XL over a 100 will keep the wheel in the air all day if you want to.

I just remembered the old Katana's form the early 80's. That bike was the most beautiful thing I had seen to that date. Not the overweight things from the 90's, this was before the GSXR's. Anybody remember those?

Yes I remember the 1st Katana 1100, it is the only Suzuki I like.

Here is me in 1982 I think, on my 900F. I thought this was an amazing bike. (it was)

Until I bought this one in 1984.

Meanwhile, my friend Bill, in 1984, thought his 1100f (mine now) was fast. Please disregard the improper riding attire, we were invinceble back then!

Both of us in 1986.

hey, that couldn't have been a '72 RD350 - they didn't add the reed valves and call it a "RD" until '73. I know - I had the 72 model, it was called the YR5. It was still pretty cool, though. I thought it was just as fast in the top end, just didn't have as much low end torque.

If you liked wheelies on two strokes, you should have tried an H1 Kaw though. I know scary is not the same as impressive, but they could sure get my 18 year old adrenaline going.

1970 triumph bonneville t120r! Yes a british bike. These bikes were the #$%@ before the japanese big stroke four cylinders started dominating. This was the last and best year these bikes were made before triumph got bought out and their bikes went downhill. Beautiful bike, tuff twin sound and actually handled great (in 1970). I wish I kept mine for sunday cruises but nothing beats my f for fun/reliability/comfort. In some ways the bonnie and f are similar. They both put the motorcyle world on notice when they came out. Both had the best handling/power/brakes of their time. Both set the bar high for others to try and match.
