I have owned my CB1100F for 19 years. I bought it in North Dakota of all places while stationed in the Air Force. It was my second bike, but always my first bike of choice.
I rode it on the street for a year and started drag racing it off and on for the next three years. Finally in 1987 I stopped riding it on the street and started drag racing it full time. When I took it off of the street it had 24,000 miles on it. I have since put countless passes on the quarter mile. Up until 1992 I had to do nothing to the engine. This bike has been rock solid for years, just ask the competition. In 1992 I freshened up the motor and put it back together in its stock configuration. As the pictures show, I have made a few modifications. 8” over custom made chrome molly swing arm, wheelie bars and struts. The seat has been lengthened to match the swing arm. The head light and instrumentation were removed to accommodate the mock dash. The swing arm doubles as an air tank for the pneumatic air shifter and air clutch. The rear wheel is a combination of a 1978 Honda spoke hub laced to an MW6 rim. The stock rim would not accept an 18” slick. The rear slick is a 5” Mickey Thompson, the front slick is a 3” Goodyear mounted on the stock rim. The front end is stock and lowered 4”. I use a 2 stage rev limiter from Dyna Ignitions to set the RPM’s at 7500 during the launch and set the high side at 11,000 to prevent over revving. I use a Dedenbear cross over delay box to launch the bike at the start of each pass.
Best 1/4 mile in this configuration: 10.30 @ 127 MPH
I’m in the process of installing an 1123 piston kit
Having the head ported and polished with 1mm over stainless steel valves, high performance valve springs.
33mm Mikuni Smoothbores
High performance clutch springs.
After the racing season starts back up, I’ll up date you on the hopeful performance gains from my labors this winter. New configuration projected ¼ mile. 9.90 @ 132 MPH.
Thank you in advance for sharing my bike with other interested Honda owners. I welcome any questions and or advise.
