Hello gang,

I'm back to lurking here a bit, as I am grafting some F parts onto a mild custom CBX I'm building including the wheels. Good to see the usual denizens here. Sorry for spawning Yet Another Tire Thread, but I did not find anything recent in my searches.

Tire choices are getting pretty slim, in the stock sizes listed for the 1100F wheels:

100/90 V18 Front
130/90 V17 Rear

I have used and really like the Shinko 230 on my CBXs, and they sure are a bargain. Those are available for these wheels too. But what else is out there that you guys are running?

What have you used, what do you like? Super sticky and soft is not so desirable here in AZ, as a data point for your thoughts.

TIA for your wisdom.

Nils

I haven't run stock size stuff for years Very Happy but I know some members here have installed the Shinko 712R and love them.

Continental ContiRoadAttack
This is a radial tire. Used them on my 900F. Total different bike since then.

I agree with this as well, Radial Tires.. But with 1100F wheels, you can get, Road Attack3, in 110/80zr18 front & Trail Attack 3, size 140/80R18 rear…

Radial tires are more expensive, but for me, well worth spending the extra dollars for uncompromising performance..

I have radial tires, Continental, Michelin & Shinko, on my three Hondas. A CBX, CB750/1100F & my CB750/1123F Track Bike.

+1 to that. I used to run the Shinko 230 Tourmasters on my 11F, but switched over to the 712R H rated.
They are a great tire at a bargain price.
I'll probably stick with the Shinko 712R as long as I have this bike.

Cheers!

When I bought my 1100F new I ran Metzler tires (what I used on my motocross bikes.) I ran them until the mid-2000"s when I noticed I couldn't get a full season out of the rear tire and I was splitting riding between a couple bikes. I tried a set of Shinko's and they were ok (SteveG uses them and he is an excellent rider.) I since mounted Pirelli Sport Demons and love them. Now that radials are available in the size for my 1100 I will certainly try them since I love the radials on Junior / F2 converted F bike.

Follow-up..... I looked up the "Continental ContiRoadAttack" tires on Bike Bandit and couldn't find the radials for my 1100F?

So thanks for this thread.

I’ve always been a Metzeler guy but for my new-to-me CB1100F I just got a pair of Bridgestone Battleaxe BT46 tires in the original sizes, from Chaparral. Fed Ex just dropped them off two minutes ago.

Just fitted a set of Michelins new "Road Classics" to my '82 750F just waiting to overhaul the brakes and i'll be out, comments to follow.

The range has a good selection of sizes to suit our bikes

I have been using the previous Michelin pilot activs on my CB1100RC for the last 5 years, i replaced the rear at just over 6000 miles last October as it was squaring off badly, and fitted a Road classic in its place as the Pilot actives are now discontinued, i did a couple of rides with it before the winter and felt very good with the Road classic

Just remember to use increased pressures for the more modern Tyres(notice i spelt Tyre correctly), Michelin recommended to me with the pilot active to run 36psi front and 42psi rear

For stock sizes I found Pirelli Demons to be excellent for grip and wet weather riding.

+1 for the Pirelli Sport Demons. But I think I'm going to try the ContiRoadAttack next time. Sport Demons seem to be a bit harder to find right now in our sizes.

Good to hear an update on the Road Classics, it's probably at the top of my list for my 82 US CB900F as soon as i've got her re-commissioned.
Avon Roadrider II's or BT46 were my other choices ?

I used to love ME33 & ME99's on my CB900FA in the 80's & 90's, but would love something closer in performance to modern Pilot Road 4's i use on my Triumphs Smile

Michelin Road Classics now fitted to my USA CB900F Supersport. Had to order them from National Tyres in Barnsley, as there's a bit of a tyre shortage over here in UK at the moment.
Prices have generally gone up since I last bought ME 33 & ME99's too 😜

Next, caliper seals & Venhills with ZG 1400 MCyl. Already fitted IKON progressive springs & 10W oil.
So should grip & stop well 😁.
I've a few other events, so it will be couple of weeks before I can report back on tyres etc Wink

I like them Parellis but find nothing wrong with spitfires either for stock bike and rims

I can report that the Michelin Road Classics on my CB750F are brilliant, worth every penny in my opinion.

Where did you order those Michelin tires from? What did you pay?
I had a look at a popular Canadian distributor, those tires would cost me $573. taxes in CDN.
I'll stick with my Shinko 712's, both tires, taxes in for $240.

Cheers!
Chris

Got them through Cycle Gear in Mayfield Heights Cleveland, they where doing free fitting at the time and I got them for just over $400 fitted
but there was also a $50 cash back through Michelin as well

I believe the Shinko tires are old molds from another good brand. Which is why I try to run them when I can. Great price for a decent tire. 712 series and even the 730 series for cruisers.
