Hi there. I've been tasked with repairing and the re-homing an 83 CB1100F. The bike has been stored for the last 7 years and has all the common issues of any vehicle that has been sitting that long.

I'm not a motorcycle guy. My uncle gave me a Harley Sportster 25 years ago when I got out of the Army, and, after he laid down and totalled his hard tail, I gave it back. I knew riding was way more important to him than me, so I wanted him to be able to get back in the wind asap. I turned my attention to racecars and, well here I am.

So far I've found all replacement parts needed except for the seals at the top of the fork. Is there a specific name for those?

Thanks Hondo. I see you hail from Grand Rapids! Not at all far from Elkhart.

I might be out of line on this comment BUT your jetting will be a LOT easier if you find a stock air box set up rather than the pods.

Nice starting point and LOTS of knowledgeable people here to help.

Keep us posted on the journey.

Good to know. I'm debating on whether or not I should return it stock. I'm fixing the bike to sell, as the owner is no longer able to ride, let alone make the necessary repairs. His asking price as it sits is reasonable enough, and I'm thinking about buying it as-is. I don't feel like I'm experienced enough to own/ride this bike however, so the ultimate goal is to get it road-worththy, and pass it along to an enthusiast that is a better fit.

Post the asking price and mileage if you decide to sell.

It's for sale now that we know it runs. I'm going to post a new thread outlining the known issues, and let the community help decide the value. I've spent hours researching this question and the price range is far too broad. Best I can do is median value on Hagerty then deduct for parts costs for remaining repairs required per DIY labor.
