I dropped off a frame to be powder coated I chose High Gloss Black to use, it looked liked a good match for the Factory paint on the under side of the frame. Now I'm second guessing my self. What is the correct color to use High Gloss Black or Gloss Black if there is any difference between these two. What color is the best match.? I want it to be as close to the original paint color.
Thanks

Based on my personal experience. Names like “ High Gloss Black” or “Gloss Black” are misleading. Depending on the manufacture of the powder coat, you’ll need to look at percentages of the black. I believe the standard is Black 80 Gloss or Black 60 Gloss, Manufacture: Cardinal Paint |

80% gloss is closest to stock. The glossier you go, the more beautiful, but you can put tiny scratches in the finish with your fingers if you have rough skin. Cardinal's finish is outstanding - I use a lot of their powder now.
Insist that your PC shop shoot a coat of zinc primer before the finish coat. It will prevent rust from coming back and the topcoat will come out smoother. If they tell you it isn't necessary, look elsewhere. A good shop will know the difference. I use it as a base on anything that had rust or is prone to rust, such as swingarms, center stands, battery boxes, etc. It adds a little to the cost, but it's money well spent. |
