Has any of the Australian members here put a 1100 into a 750 and been through the process of changing the engine numbers on their Rego papers.
I plan on moving from South Oz to Tasmania so the bike has go through a roadworthy inspection. AFAIK i only have to upgrade the brakes to twin piston calipers.
Has anyone been through this?

HI Tony,
I guess you could email them and see what they want, always hard dealing with government departments because most of them don't understand the basics but this is where I would start. Good riding roads in Tas but it does get a bit cold down there at this time of the year

Thanks for the reply Norm, i think ill try and change the engine numbers over here in South Oz first, if that isnt successful without too much drama ill have to get the the 750 cases that came out of it and get them machined to take the 1100 barrels.
Cheers and Thanks |

Not sure about the other states but in NSW if you use install an engine 20% bigger than the original it will need an engineering certificate. |

Good question. WA can change engine numbers with a form but not sure how a change in capacity would be viewed.
I went the other way when I put my 750 into a 900 frame to get the better front end. Still had to go over the pits. |

I think SA is probably the best way to go, they seem pretty relaxed over there, I don't think you even have to get a RWC to see a vehicle there so I would probably try that path.Other alternative is to see what you can do there on a Club reg permit, they are more relaxed with those and Tassie has a number of vintage bike clubs there. Unless you are commuting on your bike club reg is the way to go. $77 a year compared to over $700 pa in Vic |

Tony,
try hunting down an auto engineer who also does motorbikes and see what they say. As it is a bolt in conversion I don't think there is a big issue as there are no frame modifications, no difference than bolting a V8 into a 4 cylinder Torana, as long as nothing is cut/altered there should be no issues. |

Well i have some good news , the South Australian Dept of Motor Transport accepted the engine number change and engine capacity and amended my rego papers to match.
Didnt cost me a cent and the old girl is 100% legal.
Awesome.
Cheers Tony |
