This afternoon I decided it was time to order some stainless braided lines for my 1981 CB750F. Spiegler, HEL, and Galfer all left me totally confused (and somewhat ashamed) as I couldn't seem to identify my own bike! Is there some sort of guide to identifying the model suffix for Honda's F line? I imagine much of the differences in naming are derived from Euro/Asian/US variations, thought I may be totally off-base.

Long story short, here's what I have:

1981 CB750F
Frame #RC0402BM202253
Engine# RC04E-2202368.

While the right brake line kit from any of the above manufacturers would be appreciated, an explanation of the naming convention would be even better! Teach a man to fish...

Thanks,

JMC

The last letter is the year-code, starting with FZ at 1979,
A=1980
B=1981
C=1982
D=1983
and so on...

So your 1981 is a 750FB.

The 1983 1100Fs are technically an 1100FD

cheers
ian

no worries. Of course if it had the fairing, a "2" would become part of the code Wink

eg. 750F2B, or 900F2A etc.
