Well after the last few months working on this in a 10'' x 8'' Shed it is nearly finished

It is 17 deg C here today so i have wheeled it out to work on it a bit easier, and to give the decals a chance to dry before the go back to my painter for the final clearcote

It is my US spec 1100F project for which i have been collecting parts for the last year or so

Engine is CB 1100F with a 900 crank and gearbox, rebuilt with new bearings, chains and, rings, tensioners etc.

Carbs are 33mm Euro spec vb57's,(still have to fit air box) But i have a couple of sets of Mikuni flatslides i may fit one i have run engine in ,one 34 mm set and one 37mm set.

Forks are 1982 39mm US spec with uprated springs and a Telefix Fork Brace(still to be fitted) i had these on my 985 and worked well, still have to fit Headlight and a bit of Wiring then should be on the road

Keith

Hi John ,i still have to make something up yet,i will have to use the Micron Can for the MOT test as i am sure the Harris will be too noisy, and then use the Harris as i think it will look better(still needs a coat of paint)

Good work that man Very Happy What silver did you go with in the end Keith? looks like a good match. My mot garage is the same one i have been visiting for 23 yrs, it's a real gem, the owner George is now 84 years old and has Castrol R in his veins, just sits in a chair asleep at the back of the shop now days, a real character, cant say i have ever had to start a bike with them, you cant get any nail past them and things have to be safe but they live in the real world when it comes to just a loud can. Will we see this one in June then m8??

Daz. Very Happy

Hi Daz,i do not know which Silver it is, i gave my painter a tailpiece that came with the rolling chassis,it was on a seat and when i removed it and cleaned the paint it was mint where it had been under the seat,so he used it for a colour match.it is a honda car colour ,i will ask him for the code.

I took my Blue 1100f for its MOT last week and it failed as the tester said it was too loud with the V&H on it,even with BSI marked baffle in it,so i had to put the standard exhaust on to get it through.

He did sell me the Micron Can for £5.00 in the picture to fit as this is Road Legal, so as he sold me this he will have to pass it.

Yes you will see it in June as i hope to have it in use by the end of next week.

Keith

Bike looks great Keith, congrats!

I see you've got an original Harris made pipe, I've got the later version, not a patch on the original!
Where did you get it from, did it come with the bike?

I've got two baffles for my pipe, one for road and one for race.
The race one is basically a perforated tube, a bit noisy but sounds great.

Can you get a road baffle for your pipe,
if not you could try wrapping sound deadening wadding around your baffle to quiet it down a bit!

Hi Freddie19, the Harris Silencer is of a 4-2-1 which came off a bike i broke, the collector was rotten, the 4-1 i am using was a ebay special,i think it may a Laser,it had a bit of a 's' bend where the silencer slips on,which i cut off as it stuck out a long way,i then had a pipe welded on,so it tucks in nicely

The silver looks great. Was that original in any market or just personal preference? I thought the 1100F's were only red or blue.

Really nice looking bike though. I'd love to hear it running with that minimalist exhaust!

Hi yes the CB1100Fs were only Red/White or Blue/White.

This is a US market paint scheme from 1982,i have allways liked the look of the Silver and Blue

Dont know what it sounds like yet,not had it running yet but i had a Harris exhaust on a Katana a few years ago and it sounded great

I really like the look of your rear brake stay. Where did you get it, or did you have it made?

Hi the brake stay is of a VF750 , also fitted to some of the VF1000 Models around 1983-1986

Hi Keith,
why dont you add a 30 degree upswept extension pipe to your Harris silencer that way you could fix it to your rear shock top mount!
You've already cut down the footrest plate so that wont be in the way of the upswept pipe!
Would look great!

Just wondering how you are gonna get on with no rear footrests for the MOT?
I was told if the bike has a dual seat it must have rear footrests.

My MOT tester failed my RZ350 last year as the rear pegs had seized up as I had never used them! Embarassed
I stripped them down and a quick burst of WD40 and all was fine!
Just a thought.

Freddie19.

Looking good, I like the tail pocket. Do you have a lid yet for it? I bet Pontiacstogo could help you find one if you dont.

Hi just got the bike finished today, ready to go for MOT test tomorrow, have fitted a nice quiet Micron Can on a V&H Supersport 4-1 as they are getting a bit hot on noise at the test, and fitted a spare pair of lattice footrests with rear pegs, just need to fit rear license plate.
