Here's the situation: I ordered two tires from American Motorcycle Tire (http://www.americanmototire.com) online on Saturday.

I tried to contact them by email to confirm shipping, and the message bounced back -- 'mailbox full'.

I tried to call the 800 customer service: disconnected.

I called directory information, and got the non-toll free number: disconnected.

Called my credit card company. Card was charged. (And, frankly, they weren't very interested. TIme for a new card company!)

I don't know what is going on, but I'd be VERY careful about ordering from them for the moment.

I will post any results as the come in.

I took a look at their website and it says that their 800 help line is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Maybe they turn their 800 line off on Saturday--good luck and I hope you get your tires.

I called it every hour today. Just a 'phone company recording recording, "Sorry you're having trouble. Please try again later". Both the toll-free and the local number.

If this were happening to me, I think that I would contacted the card company and let them take over. At least you should be covered in this.

I was having the same problem with them. They definitely need to be black listed. The last time I called my card, they hadn't placed any charges on it. But I will be watching it closely! Mad I just got my tires in from tiresunlimited.com. Tiresunlimited is definitely a respectable company to deal with so far. Smile

I placed an order with these folks a couple weeks ago and i screwed up the delivery address. tried to get in touch with them to fix it and had similar problems as mentioned. Finally got a live body last thursday(4/14), got my delivery address squared away and learned they were in the middle of a move to new digs. My order was supposed to ship on 4/15 fedex ground. I will update when the order arrives. I think these guys are ok, just ordered at the worst time.

BTW I've been lurking here for a while. Great board! My bike is back on the road, looks a little ratty right now but it is running great.

Update: I just checked my order status and it shipped yesterday with a delivery date of 4/26 per FedEx. It's a little late shipping but it is on the way. I'll cut them some slack since I know how crazy moving time can be.

Y'all will think I'm crazy but, the, I hate to tell you how old, Metzlers that are on it will have to last a few more days. They are not cracked or anything but I think the sooner I change them out the better. Nothing spooky yet but I am concerned with what time does to the composition of the rubber. The chicken stripes are plenty wide on them. Rolling Eyes

Finally got through to the company. I called yesterday afternoon, and spent an hour on hold, and finally took the "If you cannot wait, please press one to leave a message" option. It routed me to a voicemail box, which then wanted a "ten digit number that you're calling". I entered it, and was told that "...that number does not have an account".

The next sound was my 'phone hitting the wall.

I tried again last night, and -- lo and behold -- I got right through.

I explained the I was canceling the order, and had gotten the tires elsewhere. I was told the "Gee, sir, the tires shipped yesterday [Wednesday -- I ordered them Sunday], and if you wanted to cancel, you should have contacted us earlier".

I explained that I had tried every available means of contacting them short of smoke signals or flying there myself (they're in Arizona, I'm in Kentucky), and that I would be refusing to accept the order.

I was told that I'd have to pay for the return shipping.

I asked why A) their 'phones were disconnected for three days, B) why their email address was 'full', and C) if there was a problem with the phones why they couldn't have posted it on their website?

A) The business was moving to a new building, so the 'phones were disconnected.

B) & C) God's will, or some else's fault.

My conclusion? They'll get more business from me, right after I'm named the next Pope.

Incompetence. Wink No reason for the phones to be out that long on a move. One or two hours on the day of the move tops. sleep

I agree. And, BTW, I replaced my valve stems when I replaced the tires.

Received my order today, complete with new valve stems.
I was getting pretty frustrated that they were not reachable in any way during the move. I'm not sure if I will do business with them next time or not. Ill worry about that when the time comes.
Now it's off to the garage to start mounting the new rubber!
