I'm surprised that a few searches didn't result much for me. I've become pretty good at digging up years-old posts..
I'm pretty sure my battery is dying. There is a shop here in town that makes local batteries, but a mechanic I've talked too says he can't recommend them anymore because 50% of them die too quick.
I've seen in another post Jebbysan suggest a ETX15 AGM
Anything else I should know? The battery in there now was installed by PO a year before I bought the bike. So its going on 3 years old now. Its one of the WalMart batteries. I've charged fully it and drained it completely trying to start the bike at least 25 times this spring. I think its starting to die.. |

You cannot go wrong....
The AGM monicker is Absorbed Glass Matrix.....it has acid in it but it is kind of fiberglass inside....you can mount it
anyway you want and it's life is 5x better...

My ETX20 spins the big six like no plugs are in it.....

Mine is now 8 years old. Yes, 8. Still works like a champ. Spends its winters out in the cold on a proper tender. |

ETX15 drops straight in apparently, the ETX20 looks like a much bigger lump.
Does it fit straight into our battery box? |

The CBX takes a bigger battery. Some guys have used the larger battery by laying on its side and longer wires, but the ETX-15L fits. |

I bought the Big Crank for my 1100F based on advice from forum members here and couldn't be happier. Since then I have recommended it to all my friends riding various different types of bikes and they too are thrilled with the performance. No need for a tender either. |

The big crank is the "battery of choice" here (I have 5, counting the Gold Wing), but Interstate battery also make a very nice AGM (I have 1, in my 1100). It works great, for just over a year now. |

****NOTE***** Make sure you order the ETX-15L otherwise the posts are opposite from the stock battery and you'll need longer battery cables |

Another battery to consider is a Shorai Lithiom Iron. Last year I bought one for my CBX. The battery weighs 3 lbs (vs ~15 for most non Li) and is ~ half the size. The battery came with light weight foam to fill the space in the battery compartment. I'm into my second season now and the Shorai has been cranking as good as my previous favorite ... Big Crank. The Shorai cost $145 vs ~ $75 for a Big Crank, so it is about twice the price.
When the battery showed up, I thought for sure they sent me the wrong one. It is about the size of an alarm system battery and was amazingly light! But after double checking it was the right one so I put it in. I have been very pleased with it so far. |

Some of those things are crazy powerful. When I was crew chiefing a racing boat, the boat owner bought some tiny little battery that weighed about 8-10 pounds and was about the size of an F battery. It looked funny in the boat with these big ass double ought welding cable style wires on it. Now, we were trying to fire a 14:1 compression Big block Chevy with the timing locked out at 36 degrees, so even with the gear reduction starter, it'd hammer a pretty good lead acid battery. That little stupid battery would spin that BB Chevy like it had the plugs out. Dunno what it was, or where he got it, but he said I didn't even want to know what it cost. |

These are the batteries the cafe racer guys use, right? You can hide it under your seat, and tuck all the rest of the electrical under there too, so you get that empty 'triangle' where all the electrical stuff is otherwise in stock position. A client of mine said he was attempting to do this, tuck away all the electrical to get the empty triangle look, and it was a bitch of a job. He had one of these batteries and liked it. |
